Teacher quality
Principal leadership
Parent involvement
I would like to be up front and state that I am currently the Principal at Richmond Christian School. I came into this role in August of 2012. I would be happy to speak to anyone about the current status of our school. I would like to address a few of the concerns stated below: High School Academics: As of the fall of 2013, RCS will be offering 12 AP Courses to help meet the academic needs of our highest achievers. Students will also be able to utilize an online classroom environment to take four different foreign languages. We have also implemented a much more thorough "Academic Intervention" program for students who struggle with achievement, motivation, organization, or other difficulties. This program is intended to help students become better prepared for high levels of learning, while still placing an appropriate amount of responsibility on the student. One reviewer below stated having multiple Bible teachers as a negative. I do not see it that way. We do not seek to indoctrinate our children with the opinions of one or two teachers. While teaching styles may change, Biblical truth does not change from teacher to teacher. Thank you. God bless. Go Warriors! All For Him!
We are so grateful to have found RCS for our children. The dedication of the teachers has been outstanding! We love the small class size that enables the teachers to get to know each student personally and understand the best way for them to learn. Our children are challenged academically and encouraged to become critical thinkers. There is a wonderful family spirit at RCS that provides a safe learning environment for our children. We visit often to have lunch with our kids and the warmth from the staff and teachers is wonderful! We feel like the school encourages our involvement at every level. RCS is the perfect fit for our family and if you are looking for quality Christian education, we encourage you to visit to see for yourself what we experience each day!
We found RCS to be a great fit for our children. We love the school and the warmth and love that each teacher gave to our children. We love RCS!
i went to rcs for 14 yrs and i had to take prerequisites to fill in the missing gaps. the have gotten rid of teachers i loved. elementary school education was good but middle and high school were not. i had a different Bible teacher every year since elementary school all the way to senior year. it left me cconfused and feeling like i had learned a little but not as much as i would have liked because each teacher had something different to say and believed somethin different. i go to clover hill baptist church which is the church that use to be affiliated with the school and i love that church especially pastor eaves who married myparents in the rcs chapel and even m parents say its changed a little. luckily i have a great church to help and pray for me as i learn more and learn what i didt learn at rcs.
RCS is a great school that has adjusted to our economy and is ensuring that those families attending are getting a quality education with caring teachers for a price no other ACSI accredited school in the area can match. If you want your child to attend a church in a school then look at other offerings. If you want your child to feel like they go to a school rather than a church than RCS is the school for you. With a large campus, gym, chapel, multiple computer labs and quality teachers it has plenty to offer.
This school lacks solid leadership and administration. The teachers are good and the curriculum is sound, but I suggest if you want to send your child to this school, you truly investigate what it is you are investing in. I suggest going to Banner or Guardian if you are looking for a school that will provide a strategic education for your child. For a private school, I fell the education is no better than a public school and is not worth the funding.
I can't begin to say how much RCS means to my family and me. I am a mother of a wonderful little daughter who now attends RCS. I graduated from RCS many years ago. RCS gave me a secure foundation, good education, but more importantly it gave me a very strong faith, belief and relationship with the Lord. After I graduated from RCS, I choose to go into the medical field so I could help and minister to others. I did not have any problems getting into a great university and medical school. In fact, I did quite well. My daughter is also enjoying attending RCS very much. She is learning a lot and is enjoying the art and music programs that have. Her teachers are very intelligent and have teaching degrees and a lot of them have masters degrees. These teachers are very much like the ones I use to have when I attended RCS. They show the children God's love and teach them with a lot of tenderness, love and compassion. RSC is so blessed to have such wonderful, caring Christian teachers. We are so blessed to have a school like RCS still in existence today. May the Lord continue to bless this school, all who support it, and use it for the up building of God's Kingdom.
RCS has made some recently good changes within the Administration and their board. We are impressed with their commitment of quality Christian education and environment. Therefore, we can honestly say that the changes they made are for the betterment of the school and the children. RCS is going forward in all the right directions. We can't say enough wonderful things about this school. We love RCS and thank the Lord for it. Our daughter graduated from RCS many years ago. Now, our granddaughter attends there and loves it. She is being taught academically well, as well as the right Biblical principals according to God's Word., and that is the most important thing.
We attended our second Grandparents Day this past Friday at RCS. We were served a delicious breakfast, as well as entertained by the students. What a blessing it was to see our granddaughter, who is in first grade, so completely happy. We saw all the children sing, ring bells, play flutes, etc. It was so moving that I cried. It was really inspiring and uplifting. The children were so happy with their loving and caring teachers, who teach for the love of the Lord and their love of children. The classrooms were nicely decorated with only having 15 children, so the teacher could give each child individual attention. RCS has been recently updated and is very clean and neat. It has a large cafeteria, beautiful gym, and a lovely chapel. We also saw a large, well equipped library and computer lab with 28+ computers. All the children we saw seemed very happy, well-behaved, and polite. We thank the Lord for this wonderful school that teaches our children God's Word. What a difference it makes in their lives and in our world.
Two of my six my grandchildren attend Richmond Christian School. I love to visit all of my grandchildren, but I have to say that Grandparent's Day at Richmond Christian School is beyond special. They celebrate family and my grandchildren take such pride in taking care of me while I am there for that day. I have found that Richmond Christian School is not only educating my grandchildren well, but the family values that they install in our children are priceless! I pray for the school, the teachers, the students and the families each day! Thank you for what you do for our family and will continue to do for many years to come!! God Bless!
I attended RCS from K-5 through 12th grade, and I am currently in college. I agree that while elementary school education was adequate, I cannot say the same for middle and high school. High school was especially appalling. There were hardly any AP courses available, only one foreign language offered (by the way, I still can't speak Spanish), and next to no emphasis on art, music, or theater to explore. I was a top student at RCS and I had to rely on dual enrollment to fill in those missing gaps to even be considered for college acceptance, therefore spending MORE money on top of this overpriced tuition. Once I had been accepted to my university of choice, I had to take an enormous load of prerequisites simply because RCS did not prepare me for college level education. **PARENTS: If your teens are college-bound high schoolers, consider options that will fit their academic needs best. Sure, this place may have the Christian environment that you are looking for, but don't expect top-notch education. I know that many will say I'm being "negative", but trust when I say I speak from experience!
We have a daughter in Kindergarten this year at Richmond Christian School and are very happy that God brought us here. She has been in a loving and nurturing class with a wonderful teacher. We love her Kindergarten teacher! She has learned so much this year and has grown in academics and also spiritually. We love that she is excited to go to school every day and has the best day ever ( everyday)! The teachers, faculty and staff that we have met are wonderful Christians and really love the students. We have been encouraged to participate and volunteer and be a part of the RCS family. We appreciate knowing that our little girl is taken care of each day and is getting a great education. We have been impressed with RCS all year and pray God's blessings for this wonderful school. If you want your child to be loved, nurtured, and instructed academically and spiritually, Richmond Christian School is the school for you!
Richmond Christian is a GREAT school! Our three children graduated from RCS and each one had a wonderful experience! We visited EVERY Christian school in the Richmond area before making the decision to enroll our children at RCS. We never once looked back or questioned our decision, because we knew we had made the best choice! Moving here from another state and making the transition into Middle and Elementary School were so easy for our children with the help of exceptional teachers, caring staff, and friendly students. They received a Biblically-based, top-notch education, saw Christ-like behavior modeled by teachers and staff, and formed life long friendships with other RCS students. We will always be grateful for the tremendous impact RCS has had on our children and our family!
I went to this school for 7 of my years of school. The only thing I have to say is that I wish I still lived in Richmond so MY kids could have gone there,as well. SUCH a wonderful place to learn and grow.
I and my siblings were some of the charter students in RCS. My parents really believed in a Christ centered education..What I gained from that school can not be measured or put in a paragraph, but I knew I would sacrifice anything to send my 4 children there. Now I have 5 grandchildren there. The teachers are dedicated and really care about each child. The academic standard is high with strong leadership. I am really thankful for this school especially as God is taken out of almost every aspect of public schools.
Awesome Christian school! All the teachers are very dedicated to the educational and spiritual growth of the students. We appreciate the frequent contact and feedback from teachers. Great family atmosphere between parents, teachers and the children. So thankful for this wonderful Christian school!!!!!
We have five children at Richmond Christian School and we love it. The teachers are wonderful and caring. They are willing and available to talk with us about anything. They truly love the children they are teaching and love what they are doing. The school atmosphere is warm and friendly. They are open to parent volunteers. My children are fed spiritually in everything they learn and do. My children have been able to excel not only academically but also in sports. One of my daughters have been able to try sports she has never played before and has done well. The students are all friendly to each other no matter what their age. We wouldn't have all our children here if we didn't believe in the school. We even have another coming in the fall for kindergarten.
This school has been a true blessing to our family. Our child started in kindegarten and is now in the 3rd grade. I cannot say enough about the teachers that go beyond the call of duty each and every day. They care about each student and work to help that child excel. The school is an extension of our family and we are so grateful for the privilege to have our child at Richmond Christian School.
I love RCS! When we were searching for schools, we toured several in the area, but when we toured RCS there was a warmth and feeling of community that won our hearts. It is our first year at the school and even though we have faced challenges due to the economy, I know God is working through the amazing faculty, staff, parents and kids. I encourage anyone who is looking for a new school to take a tour and see for yourself!
My children entered RCS in 2011-2012, and I am so pleased with the academic rigor and Christ-like environment. I am a former public school administrator, so I was searching for a Christian school with a college prep curriculum, I know that RCS students are being accepted to universities such as William and Mary, UVA, Va Tech, etc. The school community is strengthening with teams of parents, faculty, and alumni. My children are safe from bullying and receive loving instructiomn from committed and highly qualified teachers. Visit the school to see for yourself!
