Matoac High School is not your average every day high school. This is one of the most diverse schools in Chesterfield. When it was first built almost everyone thought that the majority of students would be African Americans but within the four years of the new school being open it has changed to an evenly white and black school with quite a few people from different cultures. Overall this school is a precious gem within this country and it would most certainly be hard to find a school that cares about its students and its reputation. The students, including me, all recieve laptops as well. If there is a better public school out there, then I would definitly be surprised.

Matoaca High school is a wonderful school. The adminstrators and teachers are very caring. They seem to really enjoy their jobs. The diversity has proved to be a positive experience for my son. I am glad that we chose Matoaca over Thomas Dale.

I am a student at Matoaca High School. I started attending in 9th grade when the new school opened, and I have to say I'm glad I didn't end up going to Thomas Dale. Everyone at Matoaca, the faculty, students, and especially Mr. Hoover (who will be greatly missed), have made attending Matoaca High fun and beneficial. The teachers really care about the students, and they want to see us succeed. The students treat each other with respect and dignity, and race isn't a problem at all. Matoaca High School, in my opinion, is the best high school in Chesterfield County, and I hope one day everyone else will see that as well.

I am a student at Matoaca High School, and I feel that parents think that the students at Matoaca High School are not as smart as the other students in the Northern part of the county. I also believe that some parents do not want their children in a majority black school, when in fact, the school is actually diversely mixed. Although Matoaca has some growing to do in some aspects, it is, however, an excellent school; where a student can get the same education as anyone else in other parts of the county.

My children moved from L.C. Bird High School to the new Matoaca High School in 9th grade, and so far I have been very impressed with the quality of this school. Many people in my neighborhood were worried about racial issues when we were redistricted, but these concerns have proved unfounded. Matoaca is a diverse school with involved parents and a dedicated administration. All the students get laptops as well!
