My son has enjoyed being at this school. I feel he is able to reach his goal for success with the teachers here at this school. They seem to care and be there for the children. The teachers do an excellent job in preparing the children for sols and tests. They also do well in helping the children gain self esteem, prepare for everyday situations and become independent. The teachers always seem to have smiles on in the hallways or classrooms when you walk by. The staff seem wonderful. The ladies in the office always seem polite on the phone. The Principal and Vice Principal have made this school a safe and healthy environment for the children. I would recommend Riverdale Elementary School, Courtland,Va. I Love this school and the teachers and staff.

The school does an excelent job teaching each kid at his/her level. My son excells in a lot of areas, which his teacher recognized and works with him at his level to keep him challenged. She also noticed an area that needs improvement and was quick to help him there as well. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

This school definitely coud use some improvement in the staffing department. The staff just dont seem like the children and their education are top priority to them but yet they work in the field of education. Please get your focus back! Its about the children not politics. I strongly recommend if you can get your child into a different school to do so. I went to this school and it was wonderful. I have no clue where it went from there. Please get someone in there to fix whats been undone before more children suffer!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8, writing in grades 5 and 8, and science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia.
