Sacred Heart School2

This school has been in a decline for the last several years and is apparent within the school. Teachers often yell at their students and say inappropriate comments. In upper grade levels, major concepts and skills are not taught. This is not the school it once was.
Our children love Sacred Heart School! Students are well behaved and teachers are always willing to discuss concerns with parents at all times. The atmosphere there is very family oriented, and there are many opportunities to volunteer. We have been a Sacred Heart family for five years and plan to continue our children's education at Sacred Heart!
I have had children at this school for nine years, the teacher quality has declined over the past several years and the leadership by the principal has become poor. Good for elementary school, but I would not recommend it for middle school. If changes are not made soon, this school is going to be in trouble!
This school has a good curriculim but the work load is overbearing from the start of 1st grade. Most of the students come from very wealthy families which causes them to look down on most of the middle class students. The staff members are competent and have morals.
This school is excellent for students in preschool and elementary school. The morals and values are stressed, in keeping with the tenets of Catholic school education. The middle school grades, however, are lacking. There is little differentiation in the classroom and there are limited opportunities for the advanced learners at the middle school level. The public middle schools offer more extracurricular opportunities and chances for the students to be challenged, especially the high-achieving students.
An excellent school! In the Danville area, most of the public schools do not appear to measure up (as reflected in their SOL scores), but Sacred Heart absolutely does! The faculty promote the sense of family and encourage parent involvement in your child's education. An excellent example of a Blue Ribbon school, Sacred heart is the BEST choice for your child's education in Danville!
My oldest child has attended SHS since 1997. We have been so pleased with the values and morals he has been taught through the years. The dedication of the teachers is remarkable. Kim Meadows is an excellent principal. Her love of the students is evident by her encouragement, praise, and support. SHS provides a safe environment for all. It is a family school. We are so blessed to have a school of this caliber in the Danville area.
This is the best school in the area! SHS has now been designated a 2006 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Secretary of Education. This means SHS students rank in the top 10 percent in the nation and SHS is the only private or public school in south central VA to receive this designation. SHS offers a great learning environment for children of each grade level. The work is advanced and challenging, but the teachers provide so much support. My child loves it and has flourished at this school. If you are looking for a school with strong academics, lots of parental involvement, safe environment, and a caring faculty, then SHS is for you. The administration is also second to none. Kim Meadows is the principal and knows every student. She truly cares about the students.
