The academic programs of this school are drastically improving. They are now in the works for a program that allows students to obtain their associates degree while in high school. Upcoming freshman will be able to take dual enrollment classes that allow them to graduate with at least 50 college credits. This will be one of the only schools in Virgnia that has this program.

The quality of academic programs is questionable depending upon the persons delivering instruction. I also question the Inclusion program. Is it really Inclusion when students who are to be accompanied by an aide are not. Administration is not the best. I don't feel as though they support the students the way they should. The mentality still remains the same and has caused a decline in morale in both teachers and students. The entire school system needs a complete make-over consisting mainly of new administrators.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) End-of-Course tests to assess students in reading, writing, math, science and history/social science subjects at the end of each course, regardless of the student's grade level. The SOL End-of-Course tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. High school students must pass at least six SOL End-of-Course tests to graduate. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
