I think this school is a wonderful learning system. The fundraisers seem very excellent, and other activities as well. The principal (Mrs Soltis) is a very nice principal and tries to do anything to help kids and adults. The teachers there are very helpful and will help kids. There are also tutors there that help kids improve on there skills, and when the tutoring is over, the kids has learned a lot. If you are planning to enroll your child to a school, choose this one!

Why is Montclair such a great school? Enthusiastic teachers, involved parents, and a philosophy that encourages different learning styles means children are happy and engaged here. Montclair also has a very nice, safe location, on a quiet street in the heart of a beautiful neighborhood.

My son attended Montclair from kindergarten to 5th grade. Mrs. Soltis (principal) is a fantastic leader and every teacher my son had was compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent and a wonderful role model. I couldn't imagine my son going to any other school!

The school also have a policy on field trips that is ridiculous. They will ONLY allow a few parents to attend. They hold a raffle to determine that. Even if you offer to take your own vehicle, they don't allow it. It's a very stand off school and does not leave a good feeling. We wish you the best if your child will be attending this school. It appears to be a great school from a distance. Perhaps you will get a great teacher and not have any of the issues that we have had. If not, be aggressive and don't allow the staff to push you around or ignore you. Stand up for your child.

I have two sons, both enrolled at Montclair Elementary, and my husband and I are very pleased with the school in it's entirety. The building is very clean and well maintained, I feel it has good security practices in place to keep students safe and it is in a nice neighborhood. The indoor gym, library and computer room are beautiful. The teachers my children have had were wonderful, kind and professional. They worked everyday to create a positive learning environment for all of their students in their classrooms. I feel that the teachers, staff and principal go above and beyond to make Montclair a great place for children. I see many happy children on the days I have volunteered at the school. During the school year my children took part in some of the extra activities offered at Montclair. Their favorites were Robotics and Chess. Field Trips were offered as well. They have a beautiful philosophy at the school that encourages each student to do their personal best. More importantly, both of my sons are proud to be a student at Montclair. They love their school and their teachers, they are looking forward to the start of this 2011 school year.

We transferred to Montclair from Fitzgerald & very glad we did. The teachers my son has are great, the Principal & Ass't Principl are very approachable & truly care about the development of the children. The Multiple Intelligences philsophy is such a wonderful approach to help all children learn in the way that best fits them vs the traditional way of expecting all kids to understand all concepts the same way. I highly recommend Montclair Elementary!! Would appreciate the Parent Teacher Assoc more if they distributed info using the school website--the mtg times are geared for non-working parents.

I so do not agree with the previous parent. It sounds like she would not be happy no matter where her child was placed. Montclair is a wonderful school and the teachers work very hard to help their students. Not all teachers are created equal and because they are just 'people' they are apt to make mistakes too. That is life but you must try to work with the teacher to get the best from them and for your child as well. There is only one month left of school, it is much too late to expect any changes now. if you saw a problem developing, you should have mentioned it in October. I have found Mrs. Soltis to be a very concerned and active principal. I always see her when I go to the school and she is always open and available to talk to.

The principal Mrs. Soltis is very difficult to work with. She doesn't place kids very well and when you request a new teacher she won't help you. If your kids can go to any other school send them there. This is a horrible elementary school.

I have 2 students at Montclair Elementary and have been extremely satisfied with everything Montclair has offered my students. They are caring and compassionate and have always done a good job at communicating with me, everything from my childrens progress and hurdles, to school wide functions and activities. This has been a very successful year for my students and they couldn't be happier!

I am a very proud parent of a kindergarten student in Mrs. Grayson's class at montclair . My husband and I are so happy we have had the honor of having her and Mrs. Cruz for our first year of elementary school. They both teach with such warmth and compassion and with an excellent teaching style, and our son is flurishing beyond all of our expectations. We couldn't of hand picked a better kindergarten team.

Montclair is a school in decline. The principal is well meaning but does not see the problems and works off of a mantra that all will be well in the end. The school is overcrowded and is very chaotic, support from the PTCO and Teachers is non-existent.

I am a proud parent of a great 3rd grader here. The teachers communicate with you about your student. The school is improving its outdoor facilities for the students. I am glad we moved to Montclair. My daughter loves her new school and so do I.

Montclair is an awesome school with excellent teachers and staff. Mrs. Soltis goes out of her way to make each and every family feel welcomed and is very approachable. The teachers really care and have all been great. Having had experience in another Prince William County School, I would rate Montclair as the best school and am very glad both my kids are now attending Montclair! I love the Multiple Intellenge way learning through their 8 smarts!

Montclair Elementary is an excellent school with excellent, caring Teachers, Staff and PTCO! We've been there for 13 years! It is a very welcoming school. We love that our children are learning the Multipal Intellegence way. They incroprorate the curriculum into all areas of learning. It's great that they learn through their 8 smarts; math, word, body, art, music, nature, people & self. Our 1st son was very smart & advanced. His teachers kept him challenged, advanced &taught him the great skill of helping others. Our 2nd son was really struggling. The teachers found that he had learning disabilities. They gave him the extra help & tools he needed to now be on or above grade level. Our last son is still there and is receiving a great education. They have a lot of clubs to extend their learning; chess, science, technology, guitar, international, drama, etc... We highly recommend our school!

My two daughters attended Montclair this year. We are a military family who moves often, and it is not always easy to adjust. However, the principal, librarian, counselor, assistant principal, and specialists ALL went out of their way to welcome my girls and help them to get involved immediately! In addition, their teachers helped teach them to be organized, efficient and still be creative problem solvers. They will be better off having spent time at Montclair, and we are sad to leave. In addition, I must say that we have moved often and attended many schools. As I stack them against each other, I find that Montclair has more programs, diversity, individualized instructions, and community than any place we have been before and we have attended great schools all over the world. Thanks to all of you at Montclair. You are all smart teachers and filled with compassion for children and a passion for teaching.

We have been at Montclair Elementary for 3 years now and I have been extremely impressed with the school environment! Mrs. Soltis is an absolutely wonderful Principal. She is very approachable and has complete control of things going on around the school. The teachers are top notch! I came from a private school and I have been very pleased with my childrens education at Montclair. I would recommend coming to our school.

We have been at Montclair for 2 years now and I have been very happy with all aspects of my children's education. The Principal is very on top of things and handles situations effectively when they occur. My kids have had Ms Sukonovitch this year and Ms May. Two outstanding ladies that go out of their way to bring the best out of my children. I would highly recommend this school!

There are exceptional teachers at Montclair that stand out, but its a roll of the dice to see if you get one. The best ones are the new ones that come from other school districts. Stand out teacher is Ms. Greenwood. She is the only reason to go to this school. The lady is a Class Act. She could teach the lot of them. The old VP was wonderful, held things together. Wish she would come back. The new VP thinks she knows it all and is basically lost when it comes to communication skills. The Principal is weak, a figurehead only. They had a Halloween party this year. It was chaos. No one was in charge.

If you are moving to the area...look elsewhere. The numbers aren't horrible, but they are slipping. The principal is a poor leader. The organization of papers and communication from the school is lacking. Montclair is definitely swinging to the downside due to its principal and poor staff.

I was happy with the kindergarten program that two of my children attended. however, once my son entered first grade I was not happy with the lack of after school activities. The classroom is overcrowded and unorganized. I find the ptco unorganized as well. With so many fundraisers I don't see where it has benefited the school. It's small and overcrowded and has too many kids with delays and behavoir problems disrupting the class. We'll relocate to pull them from this school.

Montlair is an amazing school! My son is currently a student. The teachers and staff are caring and friendly. They instruct using a technique called multiple intelligences. Where an emphasis is placed on each individuals strengths and they help them to learn accordingly. My son loves school and truly looks forward to going there each and every day. when my son was in kindergarten he was struggling with reading, his teacher was so wonderful. She took extra time with me to show me exactly what to do to help him. Then one day after school she came running out to tell me how great he was doing and how proud of him she was. He was standing right there. I can't tell you what that praise meant to him and to me. Thats the kind of teachers they have at montclair.I give Montclair an A+++
