My son has attended Henderson for g K-3. Overall, I have been very happy w/ the school teachers & administrators. As an earlier poster from early 2011 said, there are some busy-body parents who do think they run things. If we're talking about the same PTCO leadership - they were voted out for the 10-11 school year. When I noticed my son having continued difficulty in reading, I requested a Student Evaluation. Henderson officials were prompt in scheduling, and offering suggestions. I never felt pushed aside. As it happens, my son is ADD and at no time did the administration push medication. To date, for g3, they (& the teacher - Mrs. Meyers) have been great in working with me to try different things to help my son succeed. He's had a 180 w/ the *help* of medication. I do worry w/ the loss of the new Principal mentioned below (Mrs. Rineshuttle) - the current acting Princ, could be a problem. More extracurriculars would be nice, but since I can't afford anything, it's not a sticking/selling point.

Henderson is a great school. But it seems there are a lot of parents there who think they run the school. Class size is not the schools fault - It's the county and state government who don't put education first. If you think your child is not being challenged enough then you should take the initiative and challenge them. Your child is not the only child in that classroom.

Faculty & Staff are friendly, right on top of things and very professional. Our children's best interest is primary. They been rated a School of Excellence numerous times and have implemented an Anti-Bullying program.

My oldest has attended this school for 6 years and my youngest from K-2. This is an amazing school with awesome teachers. There is quite a bit of parent involvement. The principal is an amazing woman. We also have an awesome assistant principal Felicia Norwood who is leaving for another school. She will be missed. If, I were not leaving the area. My youngest would continue at Henderson

My son has attended Henderson for 3 yrs (1st - 3rd). He has had wonderful teachers for 2 of those years. Communication between teachers and myself was great because I made the effort to stay informed. I am not a fan of the 'new math', I feel students aren't given permission to learn in a way that works for them. My son is in the gifted program and I am very pleased with it. Disappointed in the lack of extracurriculars but it seems Henderson is making an effort to improve. I am impressed so far with our new principal. I think she will help bring some much needed change. There seems to be a problem with consistency in the curriculum, I often feel that parents are not kept well informed as to what the students are supposed to be doing.

My two boys have been at this school for a number of years since kindergarten. This is a very good school. The teachers and office staff really care about the children and I always feel that my children are learning in a caring and safe environment. Excellent communication between teachers and parents. Afterschool activities are not important to us as we believe that is the parent s responsibility to be there for their children after school. Both of my children are involved with the gifted programs and it is wonderful. This school welcomes, encourages and enjoys parent involvement in classrooms and other school activities. Moving to this area for this school was the best decision we made.

I am saddened to read the awful reviews that parents have given Henderson. Our family moved to Virginia from Tucson last summer and it was our son's first year at Henderson (he's in the 2nd grade). We couldn't be happier. His teacher noticed that he was having a difficult time focusing, and he was later diagnosed with ADD. His teacher, the school administration, and the psychologist have all been wonderful and he is doing better now than ever, with NO medication. He would never have gotten this far if he was at a different school. Kudos to the teachers and staff at Henderson!

My son is going to this school and he is involve with the gift program and it was a great idea but it is not working. It seems that he is too bored with it. They need to step up and make it for challegeable for him. There ar too many student in the class room for a teacher.

My child attended Kindergarten in 2006-2007. We are very disappointed. Our child was harrassed and bullied by another student while the teacher could not catch it. I witnessed several incidents of pushing and shoving by the older children and the teachers, few and far between, never noticed. I would never recommend this school.
