My daugther is in first grade and her reading level is far above her peers. I believe that basic phonics that are taught is a tremendous help. The school empowers them to learn and to apply that knowledge in all that they do. Being able to discuss God with your classmates and teachers is the biggest plus of all. The music program for Christmas 2007 was incredible, from start of finish. No matter the age of the child K-12, they knew what they were doing was important and their teacher made them feel this way.
We are very pleased with the school. We have a daughter that has been there since Kindergarten (now in 2nd grade) and we plan on sending our other daughter there when she becomes school age!!
This school year,'06-'07, is going to be the best year this school has had yet. New teachers and more things to do! Boys and girls in middle school and high school will have soccer and basketball teams. Other after school activities are rising and in a couple of more years, Way of Faith will be one the top private schools in the Northern VA Area. Thanks!
As a former teacher here, it is a pleasant and safe environment in which to put your child. The school accepts students from every background, both ethinically and academically. Is academically rigourous; uses ABeka curriculum out of Pensacola Christian College. Simply the best curriculum out there, especially for upper grades. Good if you can get your child to read before entering kindergarten; at least recognize shapes, letters, and basic sounds. One thing the school is needs to do separate out non-English speaking kindergarteners from English-speaking; for sake of learning speeds. Well recommended for good learning environment; not too crazy/ 'Harvard-bound only' type of environment; loving, caring, Christian.
Way of faith has its qualities such as teachers, class sizes and teachings. My son was enrolled there for 7 years and the reason I pulled him out was because there were no extracurricular activities except the basketball team but only for the high school they had soccer one year for the girls but that was it poof no more after that.
My daughter went to Way of faith 12 years ago (she's 16 now)and the lessons learned then have stayed with her to this day. The teachers were a group of loving but no-nonsense educators and the kids earned what they got, no cutting corners or favoritism, just pure education for what it should be. My only regret is, I didn't stay. Parents, you will not regret investing in this school, for the word of Jesus Christ resonates within those halls loud and clear.
It's a great school, a very comfortable atmosphere where the gospel of Jesus Christ is taught and believed. Its good to see this type of school in our district.
The school needs to listen to the students more when they warn them of things going on and to not jump to conclusions. It was a great school and I loved it there. I earned my best grades there because of the wonderful teachers. Because the small class sizes one on one help is easy to get. The teachers are always there for you. Students there are so warm and inviting as soon as you visit you don't want to leave! The one thing I would change though is after school sports for girls. The boys had sports teams but the girls didn't which wasn't fair.
