We applied our child to attend Bailey's. Went to open house, teachers and staff are very professional and all seem excited to teach and be there. They say they have the best qualified teachers. Facilities are very good with state of the art equipments. But test scores are low! I guess because of many non english speaking students.

As a past teacher of Bailey's, who has also worked in other wonderful schools, I can confindently say that Bailey's has something uniquely special about it. Children receive the best education from highly talented teachers in an ethnically and economically diverse community. This is public education at it's best!

We have only been at Bailey's for one year. So far the school is excellent. Our kids do have a long bus ride each day, but they managed it all right. This is a magnet school and is very special. I would not ever want to go back to our base school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8, writing in grades 5 and 8, and science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
