well I am a sms student and this school is the best.We just got our new principle 'Mr.Roberts'.I think he is a great principle and a great administrator, and I hope he continues the good work. Thanks,Dakota A. Jackson
I think this school is great. I love the teachers and the students. I feel that this school stands above the others due to its great teaching and student activities. Mr.curtis is a great adminstrator and i reccomend this school to a lot of my friends from other schools.
I am a seventh grade student of SMS. I feel that the school has suceeded in education. My teachers are great and have great teaching skills. In the field of extracurricular activities, they have done very well. I am gifted and talented in art and music. The programs are wonderful, enjoyable, and educational. Our school is clean of issues pertaining to drugs or weapons. The acedemic programs I have on my team are full of things that make our learning fun. I know that my vocabulary, math, scial studies, and grammar have improved since last year. The parent involvement is wonderful. Two of my classmate's moms work at the school that I know of. The parents are also involved in the field trips too. Stewart Middle School is a great place for kids to go.
I was disturbed that the Gifted and Talented program did virtually nothing - was poorly organized and administered while trying to make it sound otherwise. Trying to get information from administrators was difficult and frustrating. Jargon and buzzwords instead of facts and figures. The Orff program was good and, for the most part, my child's teachers were good, but when an English teacher can't say, spell or define 'differentiate' as applied to school actions, it doesn't bode well. There are a few inspiring, passionate teachers; too few. Office staff has always been helpful. I took my child out of the school because I didn't see it likely to get any better. Overall leadership was lacking except when it was being political.
Great leadership at the top....Mr. Curtis and Mrs. Kiracofe are respected leaders in many facets of education. Teachers at this school work hard. My kids both enjoyed their experiences there and I, as a parent, am very pleased with the education they received. Too often, the so called 'bad kids' reap the attention from the teachers and parents. At Stewart, the 'good kids' get equal time and effort! Keep up the great work SMS....It is appreciated!
