This was the worst school my daughters have been to. The school is very old the teachers are rude. And the students are not friendly at all.My daughters told me numerous times she has been threated and bullied and they come home frequently saying their are fights braking out. This has token a big affect on their behavior also a bad affect

My wife and I relocated to Northern Virginia from Central Virginia in Dec 2008. Our previous school district had great leadership, innovative teachers, and diverse student activities. My wife and I were concerned about the school rating but willing to give the school the benefit of the doubt. Since the beginning my middle school daughter has been bullied and teased by her school mates. We have had numerous conversations with counselors concerning the way the students communicate. In Jan 2011, my wife and I met with the principal to discuss our views. It was the most unprofessional conversation I have had in my adult life. The principal was more than 45 minutes late for an appointment that his office booked. He was defensive, inmature, and rude. He insisted that his school was great because they got high scores on the state tests and recommended that we removed our daughter from his school. My wife and I were disappointed with his actions and will remove our daughter from the Fredericksburg School District for her high school years. I have nothing but accolades for the staff of Walker Grant Middle School but not the principal.

I was worried when we were relocating from AZ to the area. The schools are rated so poorly. We found the perfect house, it was within walking distance of this school, but I mean, a 3 out of 10? To compound the issue, my son has Asperger's and I was worried that with a rating so low, he wouldn't get the care and help he needed. I ended up getting the house and just figured if the school was terrible, I could always homeschool. This is seriously one of the best schools my child has ever attended. They have an autism coordinator, and the teachers are just awesome and try really hard to reach the kids and make learning fun. My son is doing well in his classes and feels challenged without feeling overwhelmed. I highly recommend this school!

How can you rate a school where the state test results are sooo poor as anything but poor? The truth is, this is a small town school with small time administers and a student base that is difficult at best. If you are part of the good old boy network, your child will come out sparkling. Good luck if you aren't.
