This is an Excellent school with very high standards across the board. All schools should model this type of excellence! Great teachers and Staff!

This is the second year my child has attended Cedar Forest. I am very satisfied with the education he is receiving. The entire staff all the way from Dottie the lady that helps in the cafateria to the principal Mr. Strawn truly care about our children's education. The school is well structured, orderly and very clean. If you should have a problem it is addressed immediatley. I'm really not sure what the person from the 4/11/2011 post was talking about. This is an excellant school and glad that my child is a part of this school.

As a staff member at Cedar Forest, I am confused as to what the post on 4/11/11 considers "a sense of community." I would like to ask this parent if he/she has ever attend a school function. Here is a sampling of what CFES offers our community: Annual Back to School Picnic (sponsored by the school and PTO) Frequent Open Houses and Curriculum Nights Quarterly Awards Assemblies for students (parents invited) Annual Tribute to our Military Veterans Annual Mothers' Day Breakfast Career Days Summer Orientation Programs for Kindergartners After School Remediation and Skill Review programs 5th Grade Intramurals What this parent does not also realize is the the staff frequently gives up it's Saturdays to visit students and their familes in their neighborhoods, bringing educational materials, food, and fun. So I would like to ask this parent... What is your definition of "a sense of community"? Please share it with Mr. Strawn. He is always looking for new ways to connect to our community. Perhaps w ehave missed something.

As the principal of Cedar Forest, I would like to challenge the author of the post dated April 11 to contact me and discuss with me personally your comments that I do not care or that I am simply incompetent. Please give me the basis of your feelings. It is one thing to post a comment like that and another to have the courage to have an honest conversation. Cedar Forest is not nor will we ever be perfect. But we build on our strengths and work to improve or weaknesses. We invite our parents to contact us when they have concerns. Your post will earn you little in the way of a positive response if you do not speak with the person who is responsible for your school. Please don't hide behind negative and disparaging comments. 27 students per class? You live in a county that is like many in that it is struggling with a poor economy. Do you make you views known to our county leaders? Find a productive and positive way to make your voice be heard. Thank you.

There is no sense of community at this school. The principal doesn't care or is simply incompetent. There are 27 students per classroom. That is not acceptable.

The caring and professional principal, teachers and lay personnel provide a foundation of old-fashioned standards (honesty, positive attitude, hard work and respect) while utilizing the best of modern technology (smart boards, computers and highly experienced, educated staff). Each child matters. NO BULLYING TOLERATED! We will miss the principle(Mr. Strawn) most of all!!!

I don't blame the lack of enthusiasm in the school soley on the staff, I think the Superintendent of Spotsylvania Co. should be held accountable as well. How can you teach when you have no funds to buy supplies?

Brand new school with a great administration and teachers. Friendly and caring...this group gets it! Average teacher/student ratios. Teachers make kids enjoy school. Unfortunately we are moving away...but we will miss this school.

Cedar Forest is an exceptional school with high expectations and a positive atmosphere. The administration truly values parents as partners in education, and the teachers are engaged and positive. Could not ask for a better experience for my kids.
