For the most part, the administrators and teachers work hard to attend to the needs of each student, and do a good job communicating with parents.

Great school. Could not ask for more. The teachers are far above average and truly care about educating children. This is a model school in many ways.

This is an excellent school, in a great school district. The School Board listens to the parents. For the most part the teachers are, very good, to excellent. You cannot go wrong sending your child to this school. The kids thrive, learn, make good friends and get "A" grades when they put effort into it. The sports programs are very good. HS prep is good for rising 9th graders wishing to excel in Advance Placement classes.

The teachers MAKE this school. They work like dogs to help kids make the SOL scores. Plus, they really care about the students. My child is so lucky to be at the school. Administration is a joke tho.

Very impressed with my child's 6th grade year. Teachers are very quick to respond (via email) to any concerns or questions I have had. My child has gained quite an independence and has become much more confident in his school work (grades show that too). Admin is no-nonsense which we love, and I feel my child is very safe when at Gainesville. Very happy.

I now now have my second child at this school and think it is an awesome school! My child has a learning disability in math and they followed up on his IEP and were awesome! YOU as a parent can't EVER take it for granted that year after year it will be followed! As long as you start the school year out letting the proper people in charge know that YOU care, they are willing to help and have treated my children as if they were in a private school. BULL RUN on the other hand was SOOO TERRIBLE!! My son was bullied by a teacher there and it took 1 YEAR for that teacher to get FIRED!! They never sent gainesville middle his paperwork and NEVER read his IEP even when I asked them to.

I totally love this school! It has amazing teachers (unless you act up). The school is very good at educating, the number of straight A students have been growing rapidly! (I'm one of them) I dont think GVMS is a 3 star school. Most of the teachers are good at disciplining, either lunch detention, stay behind some min, or after school detention, etc. I hopeyou love this school too! :)

I went to Gainesville starting December and I think it was a good school. The band and orchestra program weren't that good but chorus is fantastic! Our sports teams always won 1st or 2nd place. Some teachers were mean and snobby but overall, It's a good school.

All of the teachers my child had while attending were excellent and enthusiastic, but the administration is something else. Not responsive at all to parental concerns, and they treat all of the children as if they were in 1st grade, not as teenagers preparing for high school. My biggest problem was their practice of making the kids wipe down cafeteria tables and sweep floors (kid were randomly chosen by a spin of the wheel, not based on behavior, no handwashing or other sanitation methods were employed -- even though they had several MRSA outbreaks -- and often the kids would be late to class due to clean-up duty, while the paid custodian only stood and watched). Despite numerous parental objections, principal saw nothing wrong and never changed procedure even though she said she would (ie, make gloves mandatory). All in all, I'm glad my child is out of here!!
