I visited the school when I visited my grandson in Virginia. All the staff and teachers were very nice. It is very clean. The safety precautions were very comforting. I am so glad my granson goes to such a geat school

This is a wonderful school with many wonderful teachers, and a horrible Principal who is ruining it. Take a look at the test scores alone and how much they have gone down. I can't believe that she is allowed to remain Principal. She started out well but something changed and she can't seem to do her job at all. Many parents are talking about taking their kids out of Glade Hill due to the Principal.

Glade Hill Elementary provides an excellent learning environment. From the Principal (Mrs. Poindexter) to the teaching staff, this school has performed at levels that many of their counterparts in NOVA (Northern VA) would envy. What a gem and an asset to rural Franklin Co., VA. This school is THE primary reason that we have not relocated outside of this area, even at the detriment to our finances. Great school, great staff and a great learning environment. Well done Glade Hill Elementary.

GHES is full of wonderful teachers and students. There is very little parent involvement due to the principal. During the 2009-2010 school year GHES has discontinued observing a moment of silence in the morning and saying the 'Pledge of Allegiance'. But all in all the teacher and students work very hard.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8, writing in grades 5 and 8, and science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia. The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
