Gloucester Montessori School is a wonderful place! The staff is superb and the programs are strong. We have a great school community - we love our school and our families!
Both of my children have grown more independent, competent, and cooperative in their time at GMS. Both love learning; I credit excellent teachers, and a meaningful curriculum for both the primary and elementary programs. GMS is the best resource in this community!!!
It is inviting, exciting, work oriented while loving it, open and unbiased, and the only thing like it in our area that stresses education and the natural development of the child. There is nothing around that compares at all. Absolutely a wonderful school with dedicated teachers who have been there for years.
Having a Montessori school in a low population density community is a rarity. Gloucester Montessori School has made a difference in the quality of our community. This school has produced high achieving students and adults, who remain involved in making their communities and the world a better place.
GMS is a wonderful environment for children to learn and grow. It is a great community and nutures each child! My children love learning and exploring the world thanks to GMS.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE GMS! I am proud to say that our four children have attended this school. There are so many reasons why this school is tops. I am most impressed with how the teachers and staff treat the children as unique individuals and not little robots who are spoon-fed information. Because the school is small, the GMS families all share a special connection with each other. There aren't many schools where one can say they know all the children's names, as well as the parents. The knowledge my children have absorbed, the experiences, and the friendships cultivated will last a lifetime.
My children have attended GMS since 2003. The instruction is exceptional. The staff is talented, dedicated, compassionate and wise beyond description. The curriculum is academically demanding and engaging, but the students are expected to succeed as whole persons, as participants in their own community of peers. GMS has become an extention of our family and I am grateful my children are able to attend such an exciting, nurturing environment every day. I feel the character and skills they are developing during their time at GMS will ensure their success and self-confidence in any educational setting which lies ahead. Congrats and thanks to everyone who makes GMS such a wonderful place to grow children!
My daughter is in her third year at Gloucester Montessori. I am amazed to find such a high quality of education in a rural area like this. The staff is helpful and accessible. I have made friends among the other parents. I also appreciate the way that the staff handled a sensitive family issue last year. I have visited many Montessori schools, some in urban areas with high populations of professionals. Gloucester Montessori offers an education on par with that offered in larger, more financially secure areas.
I have two children at Gloucester Montessori school and I am very happy with the education they are getting. I wish the school would continue past 6th grade.
The Montissori principles are fantastic however you won't find them at the Gloucester location. I thought the guidance in Childrens House's (PreK - K) were fantastic and the children really seemed to excel in all subjects. The amount of knowledge they are exposed to and actually understand is amazing. But the lower & upper elementary classrooms fall short. The student are behind in basic skills you would need in any other school - so it's difficult to transition from one environment to another without additional tutoring. I would not recommend this school to anyone past the 1st grade.
