I've never seen my granddaughter grow so confident and smart while at this school

Gordon Barbour school treats each student as an individual, and always has time to listen to the children.

We have been very pleased since the change in principal (Mr. Berry is very good, we were quite unhappy with Ms. Pendleton). Our son feels confident and comfortable learing and it's a school where most of the teachers actually seem to care! Our son needed some additional attention in reading (as he entered second grade) In fact, a school rated much higher on this site had recommended him to be retained in first grade, but refused to allow him to attend summer school for fear he would be too far ahead for first grade if he was retained and went to summer school (we scratched our heads too!!). Anyway, we refused to allow our son to be retained and the second grade staff (GBES) developed a plan for him and he is now reading above grade level, and passed all of his 3rd grade SOL's. Hats off to the staff!
