This is a great school there are so many opportunities that my son has been given to grow and stretch. He was so bored in the school he was in before and students were teasing him for being smart. It is so much better for him to be with other students who are also interested in reading and math and who inspire him to do better rather than trying to dumb himself down to fit in.
Parents, do not heed reviews of this school older than September 2010. It became the Hampton Schools combined gifted center then, so older reviews are no longer relevant. Our child attended the new combined gifted center in sixth grade. It was an excellent school with a very involved staff. I will be frank, our son has a 20 lb brain. This is one of the first schools where he fit in--because he was surrounded by other little brainiacs and in an environment that encouraged them. I highly recommend it to any family.
I'm an eighth grader at the new "Spratley Gifted Center," and it's turned out fine for me. There were a few bug problems at the beginning, but every school has those. I think I enjoy the change, though having the little kids nearby is a slightly strange. Midway through the school year, it really has turned out to be a good school!
So far, so good. The Spratley Gifted Center has just taken flight. I came from Jones Magnet Middle School and moved to Spratley for 8th Grade. I have been in the gifted program for 6 years now. At first, I was bummed that the gifted kids were moving, but it really turned out better than planned. The facility has gone under MAJOR improvements. The school is VERY spacey. The class sizes are small, which is ideal. The teaching staff and administration is excellent. Last, but not least, the students and staff form a great community. Despite the ranking of the school before the transition, this school is really great. I highly recommend you send your students here.
This is a bad school.I think gifted students should not go here.Think of it parents, its not the children falt this school is so bad..........no its the teachers. For letting them behave like they have no home training. If you sent your child to Spratley your child will be conplaining in a week.So its a wast of time taking your kid out of Jones Magnet Middle School.Just because Spratly becoming the new gifted school doesn't mean everything is going to change...
During the past 10 years, I have had 6 chrildren at Spratley. Four were fully prepared for HS and two have graduated college. Two are current honor roll students. To make it work, you must take a proactive role. Join the PTA, volunteer to help at school, visit the classroom unannounced. You must make the difference in your child's life. Just do it!
Great school, great staff, great students and great parents!
My son has been going to Spratley Middle School and so far we are proud to say that he's in a safe environment and that the school notifies us if there's any problems or threats that happenned that day. The school staff and faculties makes every effort to make sure that all students are safe.
I think that Spratley is a good school but they just need to change their background because a lot of people wont even send their students there.
Parents are not welcomed and treated very poorly.
