I gave a lot of thought as to what middle school I wanted my rising six grader to attend. He really wanted the curriculum at a different school but I was warned about discipline issues there. When he got into Jones I was happy. He really likes his teachers but he has had issues with other students being mean and such. The administration has taken care of the situations as warranted.

My daughter Is having trouble in classes and with other children being mean and all the Principal could say was it was her fault.

This has been a great school for my son and he has had some wonderful teachers. The band program is excellent, the music teacher is a very dedicated and puts a lot of time into teaching and motivating the students. He also had a wonderfully dedicated math teacher who email me regularly, letting me know what they were working on.

I am rating this based on when it is a Magnet School which it is not anymore. It was a great magnet school. Now the city changed the Magnet school to one of worse Middle School in the area so that they can bus the students there and increase ratings, funding etc. But Jones Magnet School "was" a great opportunity for my child.

Best Middle school in Hampton. Bar none. Principal and VP have been very responsive, great PTA officers, some awesome teachers (a few flakes, but still great teachers).

Hello my son has been going to Jones Magnet Middle School going on three years and this is his last. It is an accredited School and the the overall SOL scores are very good. This school uses non-traditional techniques to keep the students young minds attracted to the curriculum. The teachers and Administrators work together with all parents to better educate your child. No matter what the needs are ,the majority of the teachers really pay special attention to your child. Of course as a parent of a diagnosed ADHD child that special considerations come in handy. I highly recommend this school as a school of choice for your child or any other accredited magnet school.

MOST teachers are of good quality, parental involmentment is very high and extracurricular activities are far higher than any of the schools in our area. I've had 3 of my children go to this school and it's the same each year. Some teachers are difficult and embarrassed my children when they didn't understand. All of my children are special needs. When i complain to the school everything is denied and the teachers have a deaf ear. I was so tired of my 2 female children coming home crying. my son says when he's picked on he just ignores it which i encourge. I advise to be careful when you mention something unsatifactory.

School generally is good of good quality teachers. Hampton as a city needs budget for infrastructure. Some school H/W policies unusual and inconvienent need explored and negotiated with parents.

I am deeply saddened that I have to disenroll my daughter from JMMS. We are moving to AZ. She is a 7th grader there who has learned so much in 6th and 7th grade, while having fun, and actually being able to apply her knowledge than I think she has learned in 5 years. PTA is almost 100%, parents are close, teacher relationships are close, academics are above level and there is a full award winning band and an awesome technology department.
