We recently moved back to the Stony Point area and switched schools. We must say the moving experence was completely painless and very warm welcomed !! Ms.Payne (3rd grade teacher) Mrs. Neeley (Principal) as well as all other office staff made my 3rd grader feel right at home. Changing to this school has been one of the best decisions we've made!
We have been so thrilled with this elementary school. The smaller size makes the kids feel so much more comfortable and we really enjoy school events because of the strong sense of community at the school. The emphasis on writing, art, and music is wonderful. This is like being at a private school, but without the cost!
This is one of the county's best kept secrets! The faculty of very proactive and the curriculum is infused with music & arts, group discussion, peer review, hands-on projects and traditional teaching methods to help reach as many learning styles as possible. Staff is flexible and responsive to parent concerns. The culture thrives on a strong sense of community and personal and social responsibility. The PTO is very dedicate and the school is full of parent volunteers to assist with curriculum support.
We moved here from Northern Virgina and have been really happy with Stony Point. When we moved here it was toward the end of the school year, and they really work with our family to help our daughter adjust. Wonderful parent and community involement. Great faculty and staff too!
One of the smaller elementary schools in the county, Stony Point has a nice small-town feel to it. They do an excellent job of incorporating art into the curriculum and the teaching of reading/language arts is very strong. We've been overall very happy with the quality of the public education at Stony Point.
Small school with big ideas. Great principal, teachers & staff. Active PTO, a hidden treasure in Albemarle County.
Best school I have ever seen. Excellent teacher:student ratio as well as outstanding curriculum. Stony Point Elementary is small and has a great sense of community. All the teachers know all the students by name. It is a public school with all the perks of a private one! We will NEVER move out of this school's zone!
Our daughter has spent two years at this school as we could not have asked for a better school! The principal would open our car door in the morning when dropping our daughter off and he knew every child's name. The school hosts several events every year and it's a great time to go and meet other parents. We're moving away this year and leaving this school will be our biggest loss.
