I am a new student at Nelson Middle School this year and I have to say the kids here are very nice, the school is well organized and clean, and there is no bullying. However, I do feel that the academic side is not very challenging or stimulating. There is a gifted program but you hardly do anything in it. There are some "advanced classes" you can take but they are still pretty easy. I give this school 4 stars because finding a school with genuinely nice kids is not something you find often, but I do feel that there should be more thought put into classes for the smarter kids.
I am a parent of two children who attended this school. This is a very poorly run school system. There is no discipline. There are no good coaches. The staff's children get by with too much and it is covered up. If you do not support the teams with money or you are not related to the staff of the school then you have no chance of being on a team at this school. This school needs a complete turn around.
