I have to first note that I'm a bit shocked by the mediocre rating by Great Schools. Manassas Park Schools was recently evaluated as one of the two highest rated school systems in the entire DC metro area. Over Fairfax County I might add. With a highly diverse student population, this school system maintains its high performance statistics, while also providing something all the other vaunted school systems do not...a real educational relationship between school, students and parents. Fairfax County and other NOVA school systems have put our children into such huge educational "factories" that they have to fight to succeed. We have lived all over NOVA off and on for the last 20 years. We have just moved back and chose Manassas Park after interviewing a number of schools. My student attends the high school, which with less than 800 students is a far cry from the ginormous high schools in Fairfax County...2500-3000 students. Within 6 months of enrollment, my son is performing superbly, able to participate in a variety of great activities, and very well acclimated. His teachers and counselors are in touch with us and HIM regularly. Great Schools must reevaluate!

Graduating as a member of the class of 2010, Manassas Park High School has prepared me for the rigorous demands here at the University of Virginia. MPHS's stellar teachers and administration are both friendly and challenging. My favorite things about MPHS were how easy it was to get involved in extracurricular activities and the motivation and support given by the faculty.

Facilitators are committed to passing children but at times do not assess their abilities appropriately. Some students should not pass but need more attention to maximize their ability.

I have one 2007 graduate and a soon to be 2012 graduate. I have been more than happy with the experience I have had with MPHS. An awesome amount of team spirit, plenty of challenging and interesting teachers, and I love that it is so small. MP is a small city in the middle of NoVa and you would barely know that you are surrounded by so much. It is easy, because of the size, to get to know the teachers, other parents, administration and most remember you by name if you are only partly involved. I would recommend the experience of this close knit community and schools to anyone! Go Cougars!

I've had one child graduate from this school and another who is soon to enter. I was very pleased with the experience that my first child who attended had with this school. The teachers were great and showed that this was more than a job to them. They don't just put in time on the clock, they put in time with the students. Extracurricular activities are above average and the level of parent involvement impressed me. This is definately one of the better schools in the district.

This school is outstanding in all aspects. My child is learning so much because of the teachers skills and even when she doesn't understand they offer after school help. The building itself is very nice and they just added a new wing onto it to make it bigger. They offer a variation of classes to the students too. Overall this school is one of the best that I know of.
