This is educational teamwork at it's finest. The children at Coleman are encouraged to take on responsibilities--they get a sense of independance and are fostered in their self-motivation to achieve. Meanwhile, the teachers provide excellent direction. . . the children at this school are generally models of good behavior. The librarians seem to know the reading levels and interests of each individual child.

This school draws young children out of classes into groups for reading and math, according to ability. Within those groups, children can accelerate at their own learning speeds, so no-one is held back by the average. The principal is very responsive to even the smallest needs of the parents. Nice teachers, too!

Coleman is in a rural area with fewer students enrolled than the other schools. We are lucky to have small classes, and a close-knit atmosphere. The principal and teachers are always approachable. They really care and offer solutions to problems. We work together and their desire to include the community is overwhelming. Their experience with special needs children is lacking in current methods and they need to pressure the county for more qualified teachers in that area. Actually the whole county could use more qualified teachers in special education and a better team of people in the special education dept. who have the best interest of the disabled child at heart. I am a Mom of one child who is special needs and one child who is gifted so I see both ends of the spectrum.

Coleman was a great school. Hats off to the teachers , they really seen to want your child to achieve. The school could improve on more culture events, so all students could learn from each other.
