I was employed at Sunnyside Elementary for 30 years. During that time I experienced, first hand, the concern and dedication of staff, the growth of school and community, and the school becoming the first fully accrediated Title 1 school in Dinwiddie County. The staff, students, parents and community worked very hard to achieve this recognition and to continue to make positive gains. The current principal has done a wonderful job in continuing the school's motto - "I Can, I Know I Can, I Will".

I know this school is average, but i have not been impressed by any part of it so far. Frankly I'm disappointed.

Sunnyside is a great school. The teachers let the children know they care and Mr. Alsbrooks is a great principle. The children are taught right from wrong as well as what they need to carry on to the next level in life and in school. I was a student at Sunnyside and I am very thankful my children had the chance to attend it as well.
