My 2 kids are in this school. And I am overally satisfied with this school. Students are focused and get individual care. Staffs and teachers are so frendly and talented. Accademically they offer challenging curriculums . Only thing is that if you are not rich and white, think again for this school. This school's major families are rich and white.
I am very very very unhappy with this school it had to take my daughter out of the school because she was getting bullied severely and none of the teachers cared I give the school a negative 0 never put your child in there ever unless you want them to get bullied
Let me make this very clear. The Langley School is not considered a "great" school, in fact I would consider it a very poor school, especially for boys. Most of the teachers and staff do not know how to deal with boys and overall don't know much about them. I cannot speak for the girls but I have heard that they do not enjoy it at all. If you want your child to attend a school with good academics that will prepare them for high school and life, this is not the school for you. Going into high school I was completely unprepared academically due to Langley practically doing the work for me. If your looking for a school with a good sports program for your child Langley is definitively not the place for your child. All of their sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, cross country, track & field) are all very poor and generally do not do well even with the poor level of competition, with the exception of soccer and track & field. The only time I would recommend this school is if you (the parent) want your child to be in a environment where the teachers do everything for your child and you are overprotective. I would HIGHLY recommend not sending your child here.
Wow, this is the best school that my three kids have been to so far. Well run. Although they tend to ask for lots of money often from you.
Langley is generally positive in many ways; however, some behavior of parents and their children should be disciplined. This can be a problem at most schools in the DC area since so many are privileged. I still cautiously recommend the school. They are going to experience significant turnover in administration and faculty for the 07-08 school year which may help with some of the issues.
Langley is academically challenging and very responsive to the needs of individual children. They tend to have a nice blend of the traditional and the progressive in their curriculum and do an great job of hiring amazing teachers. Also, the school is quite ethnically (if not economically) diverse and teaches children to respect and learn from other cultures. However, the school encouages an obvious hierachy among parents based on the amount of their donations, which the school publishes in its weekly school memo (that the older kids, as well as the parents, read). Perhaps this is true of all private schools? Also, the school seems unable to manage bullying problems well or consistently. Luckily there simply aren't that many real bullies. We are happy there so far.
Excellent and well rounded academic program in a school that embraces children along with strong with emphasis on social skills. Since there are no high school kids around the kids stay 'kids' and do not tend to immitate and adopt teen-age behaviour too early. High parents involvement through PTA is strongly encouraged. Good teachers, with some excellent recently hired ones. Excellent programs in music and arts which are integrated into the academic program. Satisfactory extracurricular activities (after school). Worth while trying to apply at all age groups!
My child is graduating after 10 years at Langley. Excellent academic preparation, social environment, community, parental involvement. The school does an excellent job of teaching values and nurturing the child to develop their sense of self and learn respect for others. Very advanced and innovative curriculum. Some teachers are better than others.
Langley is an academically rigorous school with an innovative curriculum and a very strong sense of community. Parent involvement is very high. The school is full of master teachers who change kids' lives. The program is fast-paced and enriched. Arts are very strong. Fabulous middle school with focus on character development. Current student to teacher ratio is 7:1. Very small instructional group sizes. Diverse student body.
