Awesome school, my child is challenged daily by a rigourous curriculum and the administration takes a proactive approach in handling the school's various issues. The faculty communicate with parents very effectively and efficiently.
Manchester is a school of excellence and it is also a great place for student to excell with the excellent staff and different departments they have.
As a alumni of Manchester High School, I can honestly say that all the teachers give 110% all the time and truly care about every individual that enters their classroom. Manchester is over crowded, but EVERY school in Chesterfield County is overcrowded. Mr. Koste is the best administrator ever and is always welcoming! If a student is not making satisfactory grades, its obvious that they just does not care about their education. There are many extra curricular activities that inspire each and every student to be individualistic and creative. Coming from Thomas Dale High School as a freshman, there is no comparison to this school! I could not have asked for a more positive high school experience. Thank you teachers, staff, and administration of Manchester!
As a member of the Manchester family, I would like to commend all of the faculty and staff for working so diligently to educate and keep our kids safe. The two SRO's that are 'stationed' there are a huge asset. Officer Hugate and Officer BB are great with the kids and the kids respect them tremendously. That, along with a caring and consistent Administrative Team, prpeares the kids for the real world, without using the 'smoke and mirrors' that some other schools utilize to make them LOOK better. Manchester is the real deal, a direct representation of the diversity that you will find in our society. Not to mention the Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Athletics are second to none over all!
Manchester is a great school and there are so many varieties of different classes to choose from. The specialty centers have so much to offer along with the athletics.
I am a principal and career educator myself. All I want from a school is for my daugghter to be able to learn what she goes to school to learn. She does that at Manchester High. Her experiences at MHS have prepared her for life after school. Therefore, I am very satisfied.
My son just started MHS a few weeks ago and so far we are impressed. The teachers seem to really be available to both parents and the students. They all seem to truly utilize and update schoolnotes.com which is a great help to the not so organized students. They also gave us some wonderful links for on-line help with both HW and studying. So far my son really likes all his teachers and hasn't run into any trouble. He is enrolled in their 'Success Program' and it is doing wonders for helping to not only organize him but, to keep him current on all his work and HW. Tutoring is also available for free. We're looking forward to see how well this continues.
Manchester is way too big. Everytime I go in there, I get the feeling that it is on the verge of being out of control. I have never met a bad teacher (most have been very good for my two sons), but there is a lack of overall control by the administration. In talking with my kids and their friends, there are many fights and other problems that go on there.
Manchester High school has many wonderful extra-curricular activities for students, good teachers, and does well to encourage and motivate students. Unfortunately, the school is horribly overcrowded. Driving to and from the school can be dangerous, as there are way too many cars and not enough road to accomodate the heavy traffic. The county is redistricting so there is hope that it will be allieviate some of Manchester's problems- however, the area continues to grow at an alarming pace, so it may remain a problem for some time to come.
I have not attended MHS yet, for I do not start there as a Freshman until September 6, 2005. However, I have heard nothing but good things about it, especially with addition of the new 'wing' for the Spanish Emersion Specialty Program to help solve the problem of overcrowding. I myself have heard the choruses of Manchester and have one thing to say about them- They're Outstanding! As a student choosing my electives I actually found myself overwelmed by all of my options- they have so many! Also, many of the electives are geared toward careers, and if taken, could highly benefit those who are fairly confident in what they want to be. As for those who are not that far along, there are many other choices. I was also surprised by the amount of clubs offered! I highly look foward to starting at MHS this fall!
