Are you sick of getting good grades and having cooperative teachers? Then look no further! Clover Hill High School offers a wide variety of unsupportive staff as well as classes that hand out work completely irrelevant to the topic being studied! Not only do they have this unique public school, the Math and Science Center is also offered at CHHS. Math Sci is pretty much Maggie Walker but with much more "special" teachers. So come to Clover Hill! We're like Maggie Walker but with a staff much more short tempered and incompetent, but at least we have a football team!
I am currently a senior at Clover Hill high school and my school is absolutely amazing! The school moved to a different location and changed some of the faculty in 2008. The new building is beautiful and breathtaking! Our teachers are nice, wonderful, and willing to help. The majority of the student body is nice and everyone is really peppy as well kind and helpful. If you had a problem with something you could ask almost anyone walking down the hall and they would at least try to help. Our Music and Performing Arts Departments are extremely talented always coming home with five feet, first place trophies. Though, our football team could use some improvement as they rarely ever win a game. One great resource the school has is Cavalier morning, from 7:20 to 7:50 you can go to any class to get extra help or spend some time reading in the library. This school has many clubs and extracurricular activities to suit almost anyone. The administrators and councilors are always so nice and willing to help. I am ever so thankful that I live in Clover Hill's school zone.
i have been at this school the past 4 years i am now a senior & im very positive that i could not have made a better choice to go here. Teachers really care & so does our fabulous principal. It has many clubs where anyone can fit it. It is a diverse school. Im hispanic & in all four years ive never had to deal with racism. I honestly love this school!
I'm a freshmen and so far my high school experience at clover hill has been amazing! The new school is beautiful! There are so many clubs and I've made a ton of new friends. All of my teachers are nice and they try to help me if I have a problem. Some of my friends complain that they are mean or whatever, but I think it depends on who is in your class and how you behave in class. The principal is awesome, she has a ton of school spirit!
Both my children graduated from Clover Hill High School recently, and we have been extremely pleased with the excellent education they received there. They were well-prepared for college, and both have excelled. The dual enrollment and advanced placement classes offered at Clover Hill put both students ahead by a full semester in college!
My son has been going to Clover Hill for two years and will be a juinior next. I am very pleased with his choice to go there. He is in the Math Science Speciality Program and is doing great. He has a 4.8 grade score avg. on a weighted schedule. His teachers have been very easy to speak with and have contacted me with any problem or problem that has arisen in my sons school study habits. They don't wait for a lack of of work to become a issue with his grade before they contact me. He knows his teachers care. He has great friends that go to that school and has not had any issues with drugs or trouble of any kind.It is a great school and offers alot of opprotunity in getting ready for college.
I love Prinicpal Marks. She is caring and wants the best for every student who attends Clover Hill. I was disappointed that someone wrote that the teachers and administration does not treat all students equally. I have not founmd that to be the case. My son, a senior, has been treated fairly and whatever grades or treatement he has received has been fair. This school may not have the best facilities but it has an awesome spritit! Keep up the great work.
This is my son's first year at Clover Hill. He is attending the Math/Science program and so far it has been a great experience for him. We were a little concerned about him attending the school after the school boundaries were changed, but so far, that hasn't been a concern. I will repost if anything changes
My children have been going to Clover Hill for about a year and a half now. The children have experienced a great amount of racism. When brought to the attention of the administrations, I was told 'your children walk around with chips on their shoulders'. I have a problem when certain administrators use excessive force on children. I have no faith in this school especially if you are not white. There are no activities for the black female children to involve their selves in. The administrators constantly make promises to the non white children, the are not kept. Then they want to throw the children in ISD if the children don't respond to them as respectable adults. Nevertheless, even when reported these situations are still not addressed.
The overall experience of Clover Hill High School, is a complicated mess of good and bad points. The administration the students are forced to endure is uncaring and unconcerned with student problems and issues. They lack the ability to maintain a controlled environment, as seen in last years 'gun incedent' and the capacity to help others before themselves. In general they are unwilling to take responsiblity for their own mistakes but are always ready to take credit for others work. The music department is excellent and seen in high regard throughout the nation. Many sports are very good but are rarely recognized because of the lack of a capable football team. Teachers, for the most part, are concerned however for the students not only in the classroom but also in their everyday lives. The parent invovlement is minimal and is excercized by the same few every year. Its an acceptable school.
Clover Hill is a great atmosphere for students who enjoy getting an education, doing extracurricular activities, and being around caring, compassionate people. The teachers for the most part are very knowledgeable in their fields and are more than willing to help those in need of extra attention. The guidance department is wonderful. If you request to see them to talk about even the slightest problem, they will make room in their busy schedules to talk to you as soon as possible. The extracurricular activites allow the various talents and skills of the student body to stand out. The outstanding reputation of our band, orchestra, and choral programs have made Clover Hill one of the top schools in the state. The best part of Clover Hill is that the students are amazing. The classroom is an environment of friendly competition where students are encouraging one another to do their best.
As a graduate of 2005, i feel that i did not recieve the education i should've especially for a school with such high scores. Whenever my family first moved here and did research on high schools we found that Clover Hill had the best scores in the county, and i figured out why, the curriculm is based solely on teaching to the test, the SOL that is. And the disciplinary action taken against certain offensives is too much.
I feel as though the educational experience I received while attending Clover Hill was exceptional. The teachers were all very knowledgeable about their subjects and willing to give additional attention to students who may need it. There was a wide varity of courses, as well as levels, available to students. As far as extra curricular activities, there were ample opportunities for students to become involved, if they chose to do so. While Clover Hill is overcrowded and does have its share of cliques and peer disagreements, I feel as though these are normal issues dealt with by most high schools. My experience with Clover Hill was an overall positive one and I would have no reservation in recommending it to others.
As a graduate of 2003, I do not feel that I recieved the best education acheivable while attending Clover Hill High School. It was entirely too overcrowded. Many extracurricular activitites are offered but I knew of many students who did not attend, soley due to the illegal 'extracurricular activities' that were really going on at Clover Hill HS. I know there are many schools where illegal things take place. However at my age when asked where I graduated from I have learned Clover Hill has obtained quite a reputation for drugs. Personally I am ashamed, and I do not recommend this school for your child.
Out of all the public high schools in chesterfield county, Clover Hill is easily the best in terms of academics. It offers more AP courses and more electives than any other high school. Yes, the parking is bad and the school is overcrowded, but that is a common problem. The administration could be better, but that isnt a reason to ignore the amazing teaching staff available in clover hill. This schools sports arent bad. It has great soccer, volleyball, and field hockey teams. I currently go to this school, and I feel personally lucky for having the oppurtunity to attend this high school.
If you're a parent reading this I strongly caution your child not to attend this school. I find it a completely unhealthy environment for a child to have to grow up in. The facility and staff do absolutely nothing about cruelty among and between the students. Your child would probably get a better education if he/she went else where. Parking at Clover Hill is awful. It takes almost an hour to get out in the afternoon and the school is also placed on a very busy road, its always loud outside and it becomes quite hard to focus on your studies. Guidance is also a huge part of why this school is so hard for teenagers, they much rather a child go home and cry on their bed about a problem at school, than try to fix it, they don t like to be bothered!
Clover Hill is over crowded, but so are most schools in Chesterfield county. Parking is a nightmare and it sits on a very busy road (This was true in 2001 when I graduated and has since become worse so I am told). Academically, the school is good with about 90% of the faculty as quality professionals. Select sports are spectacular and the fine arts department fabulous. Student involvement in activities is good. Clover Hill hosts the Math and Science Center for Chesterfield as well as a French immerson program. It offers multiple languages and dual enrollment courses with the local Community College. AP courses are also offered.
