The Children's House (preschool) program is exceptional. I question the capability of the elementary program's preparedness for the reality of SOLs. But the most damming aspect of the school is the controlling behavior of the Head of School. She is more interested in the business aspect of the School, than transforming the educational program to meet the SOL standards of today. Also, she is quite prickly toward parents who are independent thinkers. For example, there have been several, several families who have been with the school for four-six years; one child in the Children's House, another in the Elementary program. She did not allow that family just a little more time to pay down on the elementary school contract and essentially disinvited the older sibling. So that family, who had been so involved in that School had one child there, and had to run across town to place their oldest child in another school. She also makes policy off the top of her head, as she goes along. The Board of Directors is a ghost board and is in her pocket. No serious grievance process. The Head of School shows favoritism to parents who 'brown nose,' by reducing their tuition, etc. Beware, Beware.
