We just moved to Petersburg, VA and I love the area but the schools received such awful reviews. I met my children's teachers and they seem great, but I guess the students are not performing at a level to allow the schools to keep their accreditation. Since my oldest child is in Middle School, I would like her to attend a school that would be helpful to her career as a student. I want her to go to a different school, but no one knows the policy for a transfer. If I had the money I would pay for her to go to a private school. Please help me. I just want to know if I have options.

Peabody is an old run down school. I thought that when I attended it in 1970. Now it is a very old run down school with fed up teachers and students who could care less. This building should have been closed many years ago!!! This schools shows that the city has schools and education at the bottom of the list. What a shame.

this a very bad school. the kids horrible. vernon johns is worse. its getting better every 5 or so years. but the kids are disrespectful and dont want to be anything . the will to learn is very low and the teachers are very bad. most residents seem blind to what goes on there. but as a parent, PTA member and resident i see this school needs help
