Pound high school is really a great school. You have teachers who help students and make sure they learn what they are teaching, and the small classes make it easier to learn because there is more one on one.

My family lives over the KY line, and the difference in quality of education and security is daylight & dark. The majority of teachers at this school are teaching for the right reasons, and it shows in the students. There is talk of consolidation due to lack of state funds, which would be a real tragedy. In this small town in the corner of VA their scores are in the top 100 in the entire nation. You just can't get that anywhere you go! I thank God for this school.

Very small school. never had to worry about fights or anything of the sort. much more individualized instruction because of the student to teacher ratio.

As a former student, I have to say that Pound High School is a top-notch learning environment for students in a rural, low-income area. I had a wonderful experience at PHS, and I wish all students could be as lucky as I was to attend a school with such a great environment not only for learning, but for growing as an individual. PHS left me ready for the world after high-school, and I can definitely say that I started at a major university much more well-prepared than many of my friends who attended other high schools. PHS is great!

I am a student in the 10th grade at PHS and I think it's a great school! Although it's small, there's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be. We have great teachers, great students, and plenty of fun.

The academic programs offered at Pound High School is rather high. They do have advanced classes, with AP Englishes and Histories. The school also has an academic team and the BETA club. The availibility of music and art is lower than most probably, however they do offer a band, a choir, and an art class. Sports and other extracurricular activities include the following: football, basketball, sotball, baseball, golf, and volleyball. The level of parent involvement is not very high. You have the parent-teacher conferences about your childs report card and the attending of sporting events your child may participate in, other than this there is not a very high level of parent involvement. This is a rather good school, however centered in a low-income area may be lower than other school's in the rankings.
