We transfered my son to McHarg this year for 1st grade and have been thrilled. He is a tuition student and attended Riverlawn last year for K. It was a horrible experience, not only academically but the teacher refused to allow him to use the bathroom. McHarg has just been fabulous for us, I can't say enough good about this school. My son is having reading issues because Riverlawn didn't teach him any reading so the kids at McHarg are ahead of him, but they have been wonderful in working with him to get him caught up. I highly recommend this school!

I have had great experiences with the school and staff. My third child started Kindergarten there this school year. I do agree that the bus situation needs to be dealt with. I too have had issues with the bus driver on our route. (bus 1) and felt helpless and in all honesty a little bullied in trying to resolve the situation. I later found that it is a private company and not the city that runs the buses which explained a lot. I now drop off and pick up my children. Luckily I have mastered the system because it can be quite a chore, it seems the majority of parents choose this option. One concern of mine about this, however, is the children coming out the door into an area with heavy car fumes. There has to be a safer door to discharge the walkers from. The kids love Mr. Price.

I must agree I have a problem with how long it takes for the kids to get home in the afternoon. I live even closer I'm about 3 blocks from the school but they have their way of making sure that every child is where they are suspossed to be and it works for them. My main problem is that if your child rides the bus and has had problems with any children on the bus such as being hit by one...If you call and try to report the problem to the 'Head lady in charge' you never get a response! My child is in K2 and I should'nt have to worry about someone elses kid abusing my child.

I have had problems with the board of education in Radford.Students that attend Radford have to pay to ride the bus.I have huge concern with the amount of time children have to wait just to catch the bus in the evening.I live approximatley 1.2 miles from the school and my daughter was not getting home until after 4:oo each day.At 6 years old that makes for a long day.School is over at 3:15---3:05 if they are a pick-up.I would like to hear from other parents teachers etc... about this.

All three of my kids go here and the staff and teachers are super great. Mr. Price is a great principal and the school grounds are kept super nice by the custodian staff.

My Daughter entered Mcharg late in her 1st grade year. She loved the school and felt at home there right away. Mr. Price makes the school extra special and you can tell he loves his job and all the children. The schools halls are bright and decorated with colorfull chairs and stuffed animals and terrific kid mottos. My daughter excelled in 2nd grade and I know it was being a part of McHarg school that has made a difference and sent her home each day excited to learn and happy.

My oldest child has ADHD. This was helped discovered by McHarg Elementary School. The staff was wonderful and gave him exactly what he needed to suceed in this school and never made him feel different from the other children. Most other kids did not even know.
