I am not sure what this means- "the boys are expected to behave like girls." Are boys supposed to be allowed to act out and display juvenile behaviour because they are boys? I am finding that the boys are much more immature than the girls, so I am guessing that this comment is from a parent of a boy. Also, the class sizes are a big larger but through 4th grade, there is a full time aid for each class (almost like having two teachers). The person below neglected to mention that.
My son graduated from St Bridget in 2005 and although we were satisfied with many parts of his education, the Catholic schools simply don't have the resources to teach to the very bright or the below average. In retrospect we may have put him in a public school to take advantage of the enriched courses offered there. There were definitely teachers who were on the weak side a academically, and as a parent I found that the administration didn't take kindly to any criticism of said teachers. On the plus side, our son received the religious education we wanted him to have and left school with a certain amount of discipline and respect for others that he probably wouldn't have gotten in a public school. He went on to a rigorous program at our local public school and is now excelling in college.
So far, I've been really impressed with the school up to grade 4. The big negative about the school is the HUGE class size: high 20s. Up through 4th grade, the teachers are dedicated and the parents are involved. The third grade teachers are known for getting the children up and moving while they're learning. It's really, really good for both boys and girls. Grades 5 - 8 seem to be good for girls who follow the rules. As you'll probably find in many traditional school settings, the boys are expected to behave like girls. Many teachers, not all, have been there for a long time. The teachers shout a lot; the school administration denies this. They do shout, especially at the boys. Bottom line: great for girls especially in the lower grades. I would not send a boy to 5th grade or higher at St. Bridget.
Excellent "National Blue Ribbon" School. Great parental involvement and caring involved teachers. Lots of activates for students, nice facilities and great educational outcomes.
Excellent school! Great teachers and strong academics, including foreign languages. Family oriented environment. I am very satisfied!
