Northstar is a fabulous school. The teachers, administration and staff are top notch. Our chill has grown academically and socially by leaps and bounds. We highly recommend NSA.

A true family. Wonderful staff from top to bottom. The most positive learning environment you could ever wish for. I have never felt that my opinion was ignored or looked down own. This is one of the most safe schools you could hope for. A visit is all you need.

Before my granddaughter came to Northstar she was struggling in the public school system. She was in fourth grade, but was still reading at a mid-kindergarten level. The public school was not addressing her educational needs, and was just pushing her from one grade to the next even though we all could easily see that she was not progressing. She was doing the same work over and over each year, and she had lost all self-confidence. Since coming to Northstar I can see a tremendous improvement in her self-confidence and in her reading abilities. She loves going to school again. The curriculum Northstar provided was just what she needed. The teachers and staff are just wonderful, and you can see that they are dedicated to providing the best education for each child, and an education that is geared specifically to their needs.

My daughter was struggling to fit in socially and keep up academically in public school. Once she started attending Northstar, she began to like going to school, made friends, focus and stay engaged in classwork, improve her grades and social skills. The students areas of weakness are assessed, and a plan is implemented at their level. Behavior problems from other students are a fairly big concern in that they're disruptive to classes, but their is a well structured system of consequences repeat offenders. The focus is on making sure the kids have an opportunity to understand the choice they're making before severe consequences are delivered. The thing that I've really loved is that while the first year seemed less challenging than it should have been academically, the school staff/faculty was really spending time learning where my child was academically. Now the curriculum is becoming more intensive, but still at a manageable level for students. The Advisory (social skills) class that they have every day is such an amazing resource, and should be a class in every public school as well! With goals and expectations, every child can succeed...and they do at Northstar Academy!

Northstar academy is a fantastic school. It provides a place for acceptance and learning for students with special needs. The administration and teachers truly care about each child. I am impressed with the creativity and effort they put in to their lessons and activities. I am very thankful my son now loves going to school.

Northstar if fantastic. My child has learned to read, write, spell and math. Before she went to this school she was in Public School getting all A's and could not do the basics in school. My daughter is in 3 English classes, history, geography, math, music, PE. She plays basketball and soccer for the school. I recommend this school highly. The school is the best for my daughter. She will graduate and go on to college because of this school. The teacher are very interactive with the children.

This school is for students with all different types of disabilities, and socal issues. The teachers are very caring, they want to see the student do better or improve socially. Also the staff is good dealing with the failing public schools systems. To make sure the students get the files, testing information and making sure the IEPs are updated. The teachers also give great socal support to all the students. Making the students feel like there wanted unlike any public school overall. Its a great school if your student has speical needs or socal needs that needs to be filled.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
