My daughter was in the IB program for the first 2 semesters of 6th grade before we had to move, and I don't think we'll ever stop missing this school. Her teachers were great and are still in communication making sure she is doing well. The front office staff are awesome, and her counsellors were the best. The school was like family, and there was great chemistry between the students. The staff did a good job of maintaining discipline as well.

Great teachers, administration, students, ancillary staff, and INVOLVED parents! FMS offers excellent extracurricular activities as well as special interest groups. You get out of this school exactly what you put into it and if you think that you can just drop your kid off and have them become a rocket scientist then FMS is not the school for you or your child! Education begins at home and because you run out of money for your high-"fulutting" private school and think you are going to dump anothers school problem child at FMS then you are bringing the school down!

I am a teacher at FMS and I enjoy working with the students and most of the faculty. It is sad to see the low amount of parents that actually come to meetings when it comes to the academics of their children. I realize that work schedules of our parents do not permit them to come and be involved as much as parents would like to be. It would help teachers a lot if the parents were more actively interested in their personal children's academics and not just the extracurriculars. Come volunteer, visit the classrooms, be a part of the exciting technology and activities in your child's classrooms, walk around the campus during class changes, experience lunch, and all other things your child does on a day to day basis. I think you would like what you see!

The 'Principal Leadership' rating is not accurate according to my experience. This gentleman came into his principalship with a plan and executed it. Within two years, test success had been achieved as promised. This is one small example of his effective leadership. I appreciate his steady decision making and the fact that he considers the effect the decision will have on the entire school, not just a special group within the school. He is a team player.

I am a student at fairfeld middle school. I thank that fairfeld is not the best school in the world but is a great school. Most People say that the school is bad but now a days most school are like that no matter where you go to...in 2009-2010 school year i will be a 8th grader. i thank mr.jackson for keepin the 7th graders in check, i think its not the school thats bad it some of the kids. I was in all adavance classes and even though some of the kids in my classes were bad i keep my grades up and pass all my sols..and i am proud to say for the 2008-2009 school year fairfield is fully accredited. Thats Great For FMS.

I am a student @ F.M.S. and its kinda what most people might call 'ghetto'. It is a very poor school. The academic material is not as good as it could be. I have definitely suggested and encouraged my parents to switch me next year. The authority and discipline that should be being enforced by administrators is just not taking place. The children are wild and fights often occur over the stupidest things, and obviously this matter is just being overlooked like everything is okay. And I think I have had enough.

My son enrolled in FMS during 2008-2009 school year, this was his first year in public school. I was apprehensive about the decision to attend FMS based on the reputation and ranking of the school. However upon interviewing the principal (both my son and I), and discussing his vision for the school and curriculum. The decision to allow my son to attend FMS was an inform one and good for my son. He as been exposed to a lot, however, he is still focused. He maintained honor roll status for the entire year and has more learning opportunities than those offered in his previous school.

My son likes the school, but I don't like visiting it at all. The office staff is useless, I find it harder to pick up my 13 year old son than my elementary school children. As a parent I get blamed for evey bad decision my son makes, but no credit for the good things. I will be moving in the next year or two, because I don't want my other children going to that school.

I'm so scared as a single parent with a child entering the 6th grade next year. The PTA has given me hope to stick in there and make a change but I've done that so many years before. I do not know if Mr. Mayo and staff can evolve this school to a fully accredited within 2-3 years of those crucial middle school years. It just saddens me that all the predominantly black middle schools in the county ( including , precious Wilder ) are not fully accredited. Each of these children should have a free tutor due its extremely low math scores about 25%.
