The best teachers: Mr. Hutter, Mrs. Martine, Mrs. Hostetler, Mrs. Devany and Ms. Hughes.
Mt. Vernon is a great school with dedicated teachers. It provides hope for students who have historically failed in the public school setting. The discipline is rigorous and students are not permitted to fail academically. This means that students are required to attend school daily and to complete all assignments. If they do not there are disciplinary consequences. It is not an easy school to teach in, definitely not for the faint of heart. But if one is dedicated, the rewards are great. I think that more parents should get involved. It's not much to offer the kids but I think getting the basketball team together was a great incentive for the young men. Overall I'm pleased with the school because my son has learned alot and learned that goofing off in school don't hurt nobody but yourself and that's how you wind up in a alternative school like mt. Vernon. I would receommend mt. Vernon to any parent who's child his slacking off and get keep focused in a large setting they will do much better especially if they are just going there for academic issues and not behavior issues.
