Courtland Elementary School is a very special place where children are #1! The staff, administration and parents support each other and work together to make it a great place to learn and grow! Many of my neighbors moved into our neighborhood JUST because of Courtland being such an awesome school!

I am a parent of a developmentally delayed little boy. This school has been absolutely wonderful for him. Everybody has been patient and gentle,as well as protective and genuinely concerned about his well being and academic achievement. He has excelled and grown under such wonderful teachers and staff. I highly recommend this school to all parents who want their children to have the very best public school offers. This is a fantastic school.

My son is an extremely bright child with asperger's syndrome. After many problems while attending another county school for 3 years we had him moved to Courtland this year and we have been very pleased with his progress there. The principals and staff are top notch...they care about more than just SOL scores at this school. The parents feel so welcome at this school that it makes for a great 'team' for education environment. I like it so much I'm hoping to get a job there someday!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Virginia used the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests to assess students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8, writing in grades 5 and 8, and science in grades in 3, 5 and 8. The SOL tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Virginia.
