I saw in the paper that Dixon just won an award for academic excellence. I am so pleased that my children attend Dixon. My children have had wonderful teachers who clearly enjoy teaching. The principal not only knows the name of my children and which classroom they are in, but she also knows their reading level and how they performed on their last test. With this kind of attention to children, it is no wonder this school is winning awards.
I am the grandmother of two students at Dixon and have visited the school several times. Everyone including the principal, counselor, office staff and the teachers and students are polite and enthusiastic about learning. Mrs. Leach has been so very cooperative. Mrs. Thornton is giving my granddaughter a terrific start in Kindergarten.
I my opinion, Dixon is the best elementary school in Staunton. We are new to Dixon this year, having transferred schools and we have been nothing but impressed! Outstanding faculty who are ready, willing, and able to help the students in any way they can. The front office staff and the principal are welcoming and seem to know each child in the building. Dixon Elementary is kid focused and I am so pleased with my child's progress there!
Dixon is an outstanding school. The principal welcomes the children in the morning and is always available even when parents drop by to talk. My son's teachers are amazing and continually go above and beyond to help him in any way. We are sorry our son will be moving on to middle school soon.
Our son attended Dixon K-5th and we were very happy with the school and the teachers. The school has alot of parent support and the principal was always very positive when entering the school. I do not honestly have one complaint about Dixon. We loved it and sad to see our son 'graduate' to middle school.
Our child recently completed 5th grade (final elementary grade at this school). He did quite well. The extracurricular activities encouraged him in the visual and performing arts.
