My son has developed a great love of learning and a strong sense of independence through his montessori education. He is extremely self-motivated and interested in everything. He is academically much further along than would be expected for his age. There is also a great emphasis on getting along with others, cooperating and working out differences - the children are coached on these skills continually. Plan a visit to see the classroom firsthand.

I just want to share with any prospective parents that Staunton Montessori School is truly a unique learning experience for children and their parents. I have one son there and another who will also attend when he is old enough. Parent involvement is an integral part of what makes the Montessori experience what it is. The parents are very responsive to being directly involved in the classrooms and in the creative process of teaching the children anything from how to read to what some of the customs in the Middle East are. In fact, what I love so much about Montessori is that there is so much emphasis on cultural diversity and international perspective (something most of us as Americans lack). The teachers are very interested in how the children learn and do not interfere with that natural curiosity all of our children have. The classroom is interactive not sedentary.
