So far, I am very pleased with my son's teachers, however the office staff leaves much to be desired. My son was absent from school & we (huband or me) were NOT informed of this! My husband had to call to let them know this information & of course they knew he was not there. Wonder if they cared. IT IS A GOOD, GREAT THING THEY HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL TEACHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thoroughly enjoy teaching at SDMS. My continuing education zeal is rewarded and respected. Children are polite and eager to please. I look forward to each day to be with my students.

Principle is not workable and very rude. Some teachers are very critical of the kids. A shame to have such ignorance in what used to be a very good school. Feel sorry for the Good teachers at this institution.

I withdrew my child from SDMS. The new interim principal has no business working with children. My child was literally afraid to go there. The principal is intimidating and bullies both students and parents. If your child is gifted, he will not be challenged. The academics are weak at best. I sent my child to the new Wilson Middle School. It was a huge difference.

This school is horrible! Don't send your kids. The environment is stifling and authoritarian. Half the teachers are good. I'm totally disappointed.

Very disappointed in sdms administration. They are rude to parents. They show little respect to students. The entire administration needs to go. The admin has my child afraid to go to school. The teachers are mostly ok. They have a few bad eggs. I found this site while researching the local private schools because my child will be transferring. Even the county admin doesn't seem to care about the poor quality at sdms. I feel for the dedicated teachers there who are truly trying to do their best for their students.

Stuarts Draft Middle is a 'decent' school, but most parents want more than that for their children. I believe there are some improvements in place this year that may make a difference, for one, the smaller class sizes now that Wilson children have their own school. But, the bottom line is that when compared to other schools in the county, SDMS doesn't measure up. The school is behind in having the children ready for upcoming SOL tests (I hate those words, too...but they're not exactly an 'option' these days) and I know from personal experience that some portion of that problem is due to an inability to anticipate or accomodate students needs on an individual basis. SDMS does a 'decent' job of creating more 'catch all's' for children not meeting the standards, but few children actually benefit from these programs and SDMS seems unable to find individualized programs that work.

When I went there the environment was not conducive to children with ADHD as I had. There where not equipped at the time to deal with it. At the time they had a mandatory weight lifting class how ever heard of that. The teachers where mostly terse and rod when it came to learning. In one class all we did was take notes constantly there was no activity just a projector and four pages of notes a day.

Overall a good school, but if you are a minority, this schools environment will not be conducive to your education. There is absolutely no diversity and the school system does not try to train it's personnel in diversity. My child attended this school and has abusive experience. He never received an equal amount of education. It was difficult to maintain his learning abilities. The faculty are quick to take action in replacement of discussing the situation and doing what's right. They lack to give a child an opportunity to reason with the plot. They tend to lean toward the negative side more often than not. The principle and teachers are definfinetly unsupportive.
