Our school, Grayson Highlands School, in Troutdale, VA is a small community school with students taught by our neighbors, our friends and sometimes our family! The teachers are very dedicated to helping the students learn not just out of book, but leadership, integrity, manners, and many other traits that my not be achieved in the home. It is a great school with a lot of parental support!

Grayson Highlands is in it's second year as a new combined school of two old schools. The staff consists of caring, competent teachers, administration, and support staff. With another year's decreased funding, the school, PTO, and community continue to improve the learning environment for the students by working together. Weekly newsletters keep parents informed of progress and activities. The biggest obstacle is communication pathways as the school system has struggled with technical communication. For example, emails to the principal and teachers may or may not ever be delivered. Overall, I would rate the school at 4.5 stars. I would like to see more parent involvement to boost it to a 5.0.
