I am a student at this Landstown Middle. This is my third year at LMS. Lets just say that the school is pretty good with its education and sports, but that's about it. The teachers are good and are a little scared, it looks, of the students. They are trying to hard to punish us that its getting old. At least everyday, someone is getting in trouble for just chewing gum(we are not allowed to, but getting ISS is to strict). My question with this school is why are we not allowed to eat gum here and if because the school was voted the worst trashed school in VA, that's not our mistake. I do not recommened going to this school. They have to much displane and need to let students live their lives.
I am currently an 8th grader at Landstown and luckily it's my first year. I'm not quite sure what I would have done if I was here more then 1 year. This school is way too strict, I know sometimes disipline is needed but not more disipline on minor things but less on major things. The teachers, from what I have seen are pretty good. The administrators are decent but not the best. The kids are okay, but in middle school you need to just find your click and just stay with it. I am invloved in lots of activities at LMS, such as SCA and sport teams. I honestly wouldn't reccomend attending this school.
This is a pretty good school. This is my third year attending Landstown and I have grown to like it more and more over the years. Getting involved in any club or sport is the best. There are numerous amounts of clubs and sports teams available to join that aren't available at other middle schools. I myself is involed with Dance Team, SCA and am trying out for Field Hockey. Teacher involvment is good too. Every year we have Faculty Follies in which the whole entire Landstown staff puts on a great performance of acts. It's fun for the teachers and the students all at once. Academics is another strong point for Landstown, I myself attend Old Donation Center, am in adv. classes and participate in extracurricular activities and I still manage to pass with honor roll.
I have been pretty impressed with this school. This is the first year that my son has wanted to never miss a day of school and has been bringing home several A's on his report card and progress reports. He enjoys what he is learning and the teachers have been fair with him. I also was very impressed with the security the school provides to monitor visitors. Small or larger issues the vice principle did not hesitate to call. I appreciate that.
This school is alright. It has a great education plan, just little bit strict. Not a lot of time for social time. In lunch you have an assigned table and at lunch the last 5 minutes there's a silent time. And if you talk you get lunch detention. Or worse. And lunch detention you get last in line to eat , and can't talk for the whole lunch time. And oh yea don't get tardy to class because soon as teachers get tired of it they'll give you dentention. Then the second time you get suspended. But teachers take time into their schoolwork. The school is just a little too strict.
I have 1 child attending this school. The overall education process is wonderful and the special education teachers are superb. My concern lies with the discipline of students in the school. I don't feel that the Code of Student Conduct is always followed with regard to issues that have been presented to the staff of the school. It seems oftentimes that some things are overlooked and no action is taken, or the appropriate action isn't taken, while other times it seems as if they are quick to issue referrals etc for less minor issues. I feel if the Code of Student Conduct says that a child who abuses another will receive a particular punishment than that is what should be administered. Otherwise we have had a good experience at the school.
