We loved this school. Even if you never stepped in to school you knew what your child was studying that week, you knew what they will study next week, you even knew the test days, early dismissals....We miss this school so much. Unfortunately we had to move to Loudoun county and are so fustrated with our new school. Thank you for challanging our kids with math, art and the history of Williamsburg, and the great reading program. We miss you all!
Waller mill is an outstanding school. We were so happy with my child's 1st grade teacher Mrs. Skinner. I always felt welcome every time I came to drop off my child to school and was greeted with a great smile, a good morning from the secretaries and or the principal. I was very impressed on how the principal knew every child's name and addresses them with caring and respect. I recomend this school to anyone that is looking for school where the teachers truly care for the children.
I have 2 children at Waller Mill and they look forward to going to school everyday. The teachers there are great, they all take an active role with the children and will eagerly meet with parents when needed and then work together to help the children succeed. They continually challenge them and give them a way to express their creative side whether it be in dance, drama, music or art. Everyone there is friendly and you feel like a part of a family.
This school has been such a blessing for my child. She is loving school and is learning so much more through their wonderful programs and teaching tools that they use. The Accelerated Reading program is fantastic and has piqued my daughter's interest in reading which was almost non-existent before attending WMESFAM. You can rest easy knowing your child is getting a great foundation here.
The first public school our child has attended which initally worried us but the academics, arts and theater programs, teacher quality, and parental involvement are outstanding. The school came highly recommended by parents of a former student and has lived up to it's billing.
Waller Mill should be viewed as a MODEL school to all public education. Even a specialist that goes from school to school in the county said, 'This school really has it together.' They teach in ways that motivate children to higher level learning. Their interdisciplinary approach helps children connect music, art and drama to events in history and wholesome living. My child has been respected for who she is and challenged. (She is gifted and she has not been bored with school at Waller Mill.) The school has a nearly 0 tolerance to bullying. First time it is reported it is dealt with. The school is smaller than most in the area which makes it easy to get a family feeling from the staff. The PTA is very active and makes nice field trips possible for the kids. I highly recommend to this school to kids with different learning preferences/styles.
The school is wonderful! My daughter is treated as a real person and respected as such. Her education is very important, but so is her development in other areas besides academic.
