Excellent school. Fantastic teachers in a loving and supportive environment. Our 3 year old daughter is already writing letters, sounding out words and counting up to 100 by 1's, 5's and 10's. As a result she is very engaged and happy at school and has made many wonderful little friends. The curriculum is rich with a variety of local and world studies along with traditional Montessori lessons. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a enriching, caring and strong academic program for their child.

Both of my children went to this school over the course of 7 years. We left after 1st grade. The teaching staff is amazing and they have been there forever. I highly recommend it for ages 2 1/2 through 6. They really look at the children from an academic standpoint and help to find any problems that may need to be addressed before life catches up with the kids. The children felt like it was home away from home. There isn't a better place for the very young in Williamsburg, Hampton, or Newport News. I don't know about the lower elementary school though....

My daughter attended this school for 4 years the last being a nightmare. Favoritism was used in making a decision which emotionally devasted my daughter. Afterward I was given reports from teacher she was roaming around room during scheduled work times. After 4 months and a family illness I decided to make temporary move to another to enroll in another school. My daughter was enrolled in another Montessori School and advanced more in two months than first 5 months at WMS. The 2-6 yr program at this school is much better than elementary grades.

My son has attended this school for three years. The quality of teaching for ages 2-6 is exceptional. Teachers are very involved with both students and parents. My son is way ahead of the curb, and the curriculum is designed to allow students to excel well above average in any areas that they have a passion for. If you want your child to learn 'how' to think instead of 'what' to think, send them here. There are no zombies or robots here .

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
