Newer school. Some teachers are enthusiastic, happy, excited and really outstanding - and the kids love to learn from them. And some teachers are NOT. Principle nice, but he always backs his teachers. Honestly, they walk all over him and do whatever they want. Even after he repeatedly speaks to the teachers about an issue you've brought to him. I've been a substitute teacher. And most of the gym teachers literally scream at the kids all day long. They don't make it a happy & fun environment. It should be most kids favorite class. It is NOT. They obviously hate their jobs, or kids, I don't know which. But they will stand over your child and yell right in their face, and in front of the other kids. And yet this school claims to have an anti-bully program? Doesn't apply to the gym teachers apparently.

This is a marvelous school. They have a newer building, great principal, and most teachers are superior. The Agricultural department is outstanding. You can have an occasional issue with the liberal curriculum and teacher (all over the USA) but over all this is a traditional area and we never saw any bullies, violence or drugs.

I loooooooooove this school. The band rocks, the teachers rock, the Gifted & Talented program rocks, KMO rocks, and everything rocks. Lunches are OK. So there are rumors but it's not that bad. So I love it. ABMS is awesome!

This school, my school, is organized, up to date, and everything about it shines. And ya'll are worried about sports?! The first thing they cut back from is the music department. Don't believe me? Then where'd Jazz Band go? Plus, we have sports. We don't have much band. 3 bands and 12 sports. Which one is lacking?

Like I said Admiral Byrd Middle School is a great School. If a school cut back its sports program it can not receive 5 stars. Sports is just as important to the school as say the band. How much does it really cost to play basketball. They have the uniforms, balls and other equipment already. My child is on the all A and B honor roll at Byrd. So I know their teachers do a great job to educate our children.

Admiral Byrd Middle School is an excellent school as are all of the schools in Frederick County Virginia. The leadership, staff and faculty are dedicated to the students and are selfless in their work. I greatly disagree with the parent who said the school will become 'ordinary' as a lack of sports; the school will continue to thrive and do well as a result of its dedicated staff and educators. Hopefully, this parent will not become disenfranchised, which will reflect on his/her child. That will cause that persons child to become 'ordinary', not the school itself.

A great school that is about to become ordinary, because the lack of sports program. Most of our kids will have nothing to do after school. Other counties kids will have a leg up on ours because of the lack of sports. Everything else is perfect.

A great school. Clean and vary decortive. Some teachers are a little distracted but overall very good. The gym is nice with good teachers. The only down side is lunch. We have found foriegn objects (hair, plastic, ect) and not a lot of variety. Tons to do after school and good parent involvement. Newer and way more modern compared to other middle schools in area. The county's No Bullieng Program is a bit to stressed. I have found that bullying is not a big problem and the schools disiplin is vary good. Overall it is a good school.

Admiral Byrd is a fantastic school. Almost 100% of the teachers are nice. The gym teachers work you hard, but not too hard. The GT program is lots of fun, and very stimulating

My daughter loves going to Admiral Byrd. However, we are not happy with the math department for 6th or 7th grade. Tutoring for math after school is equivalent to the students just doing their homework; not reviewing or being worked with. One 6th grade math teacher bullied my daughter and we had to remover her from the class. We spoke to her counselor and a vice principal who stressed that the teacher had a strong math background. The Ag Science (and FFA), Art and Theatre departments are great. There is a lot of school spirit with the children.
