Y.E.S is a good school. Fairly diverse. Ms. Nicholson (2nd Grade) is simply the best. Very caring. Ms. Concannon and Ms. Siefriet (K) are also a good team. I am going to miss Y.E.S.!
Yorktown Elementary is a great school with caring and dedicated staff. My third child is currently attending and I wouldn't ever consider changing schools.
I am the parent of 2 students at YES. this school should be given 5 stars from every parent! The principles/asst. principle are the BEST! The special ed department is wonderful! All the staff are there for you and your child's needs. Safety is taken very seriously also at YES. We are a military family and my kids have been to 3 different schools in 3 different states; this school takes the cake, by-far!
I am a student at Yorktown Elementary School, and I love this school. The teachers are so caring. If you are having promblems with whatever they help you with that subject. You make great friends,The food is good,I wont say great but good, and its such a great school.I have been at this school for 3 years 2-4 and Im going to be here next year. Its such a great school.
i love the school for my children.great lunch my children love the food everyday great teachers the teachers are so loving and nice and sweet great kids too the kids some are really you know bad and dont follow rules but them teachers whip them back into shape if they act up
I think the staff at Yorktown Elementary are very dedicated to student success and foster a great environment in which students can and will learn. The scores by our students are increasing every year! The staff also works very hard to provide fun and enriching after school activities for the students like Chess club, OOTM, Newspaper Club, Horticulture Club, Step Teams, Astronomy Club, and many others. I am very happy to part of such a hard working and energetic staff! Go Explorers!
I am currently a teacher at Yorktown Elementary and I could not be more pleased with this environment. I have taught in an inner-city school and it was so refreshing to join such a hard-working staff that truly cares about the students, parents, and other staff members. I am also a parent and, though we are not zoned for Yorktown Elementary, I plan to bring both of my children to this school because I strongly believe that this a a phenomenal environment to help children blossom. Also, the administrators at YES are the best and really support the staff!
Yorktown has been through a lot in a short time. There have been many staff changes in the past few years, but for various reasons: retirement, military moves, and personal reasons. It is unfair to 'punish' a school based on teachers who leave for any of those reasons. The true test of a staff is the continued improvement of its students and you will see that in the scores of yes. Yorktown Elementary has recently gained new leadership and I feel that with that change we have seen a rise in parental involvement, community support, and stability. I feel very strongly that this is a great school!
At the begining of the school year, my daughter had a lot of difficulty with math. and I can't complain about the teachers help. They demostrated the profesionalism and dedication for the children. One on one help was received and my daughter's success is remarkable. Thanks Yorktown Elementary Staff, keep up with the good work. C. de Jesus
No parental involvement. You can not get an appointment with the principal direct because she will send you repeatedly to her assistant principal. Teachers seem overworked and stressed. Do not attend go to this school if you can help it.
