I just don't really like this school. There's something that is just missing about it.

My son has been at the school for two years and is receiving an excellent education. The band director is excellent as is the Spanish teacher. The principal is very active and involved and works to keep "behaviors" to a minimum. The PTA is active and supports the school well. There are lots of good clubs and opportunities for students.

Yorktown Middle School is an excellent school. The Leadership is wonderful and the staff is very dedicated and awesome. The PTA is strong and does so much to improve the school's programs. Parents feel welcomed at YMS. There are so many clubs, dances, cultural arts, and fun things to do. The school is very clean and well kept due to the wonderful custodial staff. Everyone seems to take pride in being there and contribution to the success of YMS. And now, Yorktown Middle School is an IB World School. It s a great school!

A complete roller coaster is my experience so far with this school. They are clearly a few good teachers and office personnel, but the overall ability to lead this school in a healthy direction is lacking. Kids are feeling the chaotic atsmophere as well. There is fear, hopelessness, and confusion swarming the halls of this school. Something is clearly not right and should be addressed.

My son came to Yorktown Middle School 2 years ago. After leaving a private school in Newport News, I was a bit concerned about the entire public school setting. Our entire family has been thoroughly impressed and pleased with the administrative team and teaching staff. You feel welcomed the minute you enter. Teachers provide outstanding instruction. Working to ensure that their students are provided with enrichment activities/projects or remedial assistance. The administrators communicate effectively with families and support the growth of all their students. We are so happy to be a part of this school!
