My child started attending in the Montessori program, a very valuable start! My child has always been in the top rankings and it can be attributed to her early teachers! Moving forward, the continued guidance provided by the staff and the learning environment is a wonderful setting for upward educational mobility. Marshall is like an extension of your own family, caring and nurturing.

Marshall is the best kept secret in Washington DC. Th teachrs are well educatd and diverse. Theeeeee class sizes in most cases are 10:2. The level of education that our childern are getting is similiar to a private scholl setting. Th principal is extremely knowledgable and agressive when fighting for anything that we may need to sustain us to make or students the best. Our vision at the school reads; Each child will become an accomplishd Reader, Writer, and Mathmatician. They will become knowledgable about the world around them and devlope the skills needed to become lifelong learners.

While the recent test scores don't bear this out, my husband and I have found that the education our son is receiving is exceptional. His teacher and her aide have a long-standing partnership and are very supportive of our child. They know each child's strengths and weaknesses and work with them to help them reach their potential. Our son is in the Montessori program, which is outstanding. They are involved in lots of hands-on activities, are allowed to work at their own pace, and the curriculum is student-centered. While I would like to see a significnt increase in parental involvement, those parents who are involved are diligent. We have been successful in petitioning for an expansion of the Montessori program (it will now go through grade 3), adding foreign language, computer science and instrumental music.

Well behaved children are an anomaly at this school. Undisciplined children continue the pattern of victimizing those that desire to learn with little or no consequences from administrators or parents.

  • Marshall is a school with long ties to the community. Most of our staff has been here for 10 - 25 years. We have small classes and know each child as a learner. Our staff collaborates very well and provides varied opportunities for students to learn. Our scores have increased dramatically in the past 2 years and we anticipate AYP this year. We are adding new, innovative programming for SY 10-11, including Instrumental Music, Foreign Language and Elementary Montessori.
