St. Francis Xavier Catholic Academy has a new website - www.stfrancisxavieracademydc.org - where I learned a great deal about their programs, staff, history and admissions procedures.

This is my daughters first year at St. Francis Xavier Academy. The Pre-K teachers Ms. Cunningham and Ms Dugger have bee great with her. They have made her tansition to a new school a wonderful experience for her and have been patient with her adjustment. (Missing old school and friends). My daughter is excited about what is going on and is excited about about what she is learning. The staff as a whole has been wonderful with helping her adjust. Thank you Ms Williams, Ms Clay, Ms McKinley, Ms Gallagher, Ms Cunningham, Ms Duggar, Mr. Winston, Ms. Harris, Ms Hicks, Ms Rice, Ms P and the list goes on and on and on. Thanks for all you do each day with our children at St Francis Xavier. .

This is my daughters second year at St. Francis Xavier and it has been greet. She started in the kindergarten with Ms. McKinley and Ms Gallagher and they laid a great foundation for my daughter. Excellant teachers, and my childs growth and learning experience has been extremely outstanding. I am looking forward to enrolling my youngest daughter for the 2011-2012 school year. I wish they did have more extra curriculum activities for the kids but I am very pleased with my childs progress and discipline the past year and a half. The educational experience for my child has been great and she is definitely ahead of the game. Great job St. Francis!!!!!!!

TMy experience ....The Office staff and LIving Classroom is excellent.I have never seen a Prib, ciple stand on the front steps in the morning and dont't acknowledge the parents or students. Even when events take place, I like your're speaking to the wall. Some of the teachers walk around with frowns on their faces. They talk to the children any type of way especially when it's close to 6:30pm they would let the kid know that if the parents are hlate they would pay fee's etc. This school sucks in my opinion!

I love the office staff (especially Ms. Williams and Mr. Winston). They love the children and command respect. My child has attended for two years and I am prayerful that 2009 is an awesome year. I would give low scores to the Spanish teacher (who left). No teacher may be better than what we had.

My reveiw is based solely on my experience with my daughter's kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Rice, the kindergarten teacher, at St. Francis has a wonderful approach, appreciataion and love for her kids. I wish I could say that about other teachers. Mrs. Rice, I appreciate you and the work that you do. My daughter has had a wonderful experience with you. Thank you. Lloyd Anderson

I have Kindergarten and two six graders attending this school. I highly recommend this school to any parent(s) who wants their child(ren) to received the highest education possible. Since my children have attended this school, they have excelled in every aspect of their lives, especially academically. This school provides a nurturing and family oriented environment. Everyone from the Principle down to the Janitor cares about your children's education and safety. They really get involved in the child's personal world and teach your child according to their learning style and abilities. The only down fall of this school is there are not enough books, nor any lockers for the children to store the books they have. Also, this school does not offer the social clubs, extra curricular activities a traditional public school would offer. However, with the quality of education your child receives, it definitely makes up for it.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Rating legend
Below
average
Average
Above
average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth and their readiness for college (for high schools). Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Climate ratings

Starting in fall 2013, we plan to release a climate rating as part of this school's overall GreatSchools Rating. The climate rating will be based on survey data about various aspects of this school's climate, such as safety, cleanliness, expectations for students, parent involvement, and more.
