CCA is has been wonderful turn around for my child. The student to child ratio is wonderful compared to the public schools in the area. The principal and assistant principal have a hands on approach when it comes to issues regarding your children and I truly could not imagine my son anywhere else. Even with his struggles with authority they have been patient and non judgemental. I thank God and the Pastors of Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church for following the vision and purpose God has for the children that come through the doors of CCA. Keep up the good work teachers and administrators because as we all know we are not perfect and iron sharpens iron. As parents we get out of stuff what we put in, as long as we invest the time and attention needed at home and at school our kids can't do anything but win.

I am very much pleased with the Christian based education that my children are receiving at CCA. I have read all of the reviews on this site and have found them inconsistent with my experience. One thing I would keep in mind when reading the reviews is the dates. CCA staff and administrators consistently strive to be the best and they welcome constructive criticism in an effort to ensure that the learning environment is the best for our children. I am extremely happy with the safety and discipline of my children and know they are in great hands when I leave. I never worry about my child coming home with inappropriate language. As a matter of fact, a bad word to my kids is stupid . I like the fact that my children have been at CCA since preschool and they have grown up with their classmates

What a great school! The children are doing wonderfully. They really enjoy coming to school. The teachers, staff and administrators love the Lord and teach, model and display Godly principles and characteristics. I am so blessed to have found Calvary Christian Academy and I know the children will become everything that God would have them to be. Mr. Perry, Mrs. Belcher and Dean Owens keep up the good work, we salute you, the teachers and your staff. God Bless...

CCA is a horrible school for elementary and middle school children. The curriculum is ancient. I recently had my kids tested and they were two grades below their grade level. The student to teacher ratio is too high. Some classes has as many 25 students to 1 teacher. Please check this school out carefully before you send your child. Mine will not be returning in Fall 09.

I am very happy with CCA. It is truly one of the best schools in DC as the school song states.I have a child in K5 who is reading on a first grade level. She has been progressing at an amazing rate-- a testament to the schools stellar academic program. Thank you CCA.

My son is a part of the infant room at CCA. I find the staff to be very caring, attentive and clean. I am a very cautious parent and have found the infant care staff (Ms. Mary, Ms. Hazel, Ms. Freeman) to be wonderful caregivers. My son is always happy to go to see his teachers and they listen to the requests of me and my husband without hesitation. I have never had any problems with asking the staff to not do something with my son. I highly recommend them for any new cautious parent. I commend Ms. Miller for her leadership as well.

This school year has been the best yet. The example of incorporating God and everyday activities are what children need to create a sense of functional foundations.

Wow, It is so funny how the teachers and administrators give the school 5 stars but the parents don't. The truth is my children now attend a DC public school and is getting more quality and better education then one day at calvary. The teachers at there new school could not believe that they came from a private school, my kids struggled with basic stuff that they should have gotten at calvary and still are.

I currently have a daughter at CCA. She has been there since 1st grade, she is entering the 5th grade. I would say the first couple of years here were ok, then things started going down hill. Like the previous responses..I had a problem with after-care...she was coming home with way too much homework, they had more recess time than doing homework. The administration have 'pet peeves' or parents who they favorite, the hot meal program is a joke. Atleast accomodate those students who do not participate, i.e., have staff or microwaves to heat up their foods instead of my child eating sandwiches the whole school year. Overall, it's ok, but after this school year, she will be attending school elsewhere.

Calvary Christian Academy is a wonderful school that teaches children, Godly principles, along with the academics. The staff knows all the students and the interaction between staff and students is to be commended. The Principal and Vice Principal is accessible to the parents. They both gave each parent their email address and parents are free to stop in to meet with them. Children are also taught to respect each other and to be courteous and kindhearted. The school offers a balance program along with the academics, students receive instruction in Spanish, Computer, Music, Library and Physical Education. I really feel that Calvary Christian Academy is making a difference in the lives of children and I highly recommend this school.I have four nephews and a niece that attend this great school. They have many programs for parents such as Muffins with Mom and Donuts with Dad, that are free to attend.

I am also very disappointed, Calvary Christian Academy does have one of the worse aftercare programs my children never have any homework done. The teachers jam a bunch of subjects into a small amount of time and send home tons of homework. CCA uses the Abeka curriculum which is one of the best that's why I choose CCA but the teaching quality is getting worse by the year. They just started the hot lunch program which is great but it cost 4 dollars a day. Iam not sure if i will enroll my children for next year.

Calvary would be a good school if the Administration would become consistent in what they do, not starting programs and then stopping without explanation, form a better after-care program (which is the worst run after-care program that i have ever seen),full of not just homework time, and quiet time, but enrichment activities, games, after school clubs. It would also be a good school if the administration would learn to handle the 'little problems' themselves and not call parents for silly things. The teachers discipline some children while some are let slide without any consequences. all in all My child will not be attending Calvary in Sept after what i thought would be a good investment but overall needs much work.

Calvary could be a wonderful school if the Administration stop playing favorites. It seems as if one teacher forgot about the rest of the class to focus on the 'favorites'. In short, if the parent is a favorite of the Administration the child will recieve the best of best academically. If not, expect the basics. Lastly, if the parent is a favorite, the administration will be blind if their child has behavorial problems.
