My daughter attended this school from 3rd through 6th grade. She a grew a lot in those years and she has become such a positive young lady. She has graduated now and we will certainly miss the sense of community at this school. It is truly a special place and I feel that she is both socially and academically prepared for the future.

I think this is a great environment for the kids who attend. The physical space is clean; nice playgrounds - 2 separate (for younger and older kids. The teachers my daughter has Pre K French) are great. They are warm and seem really concerned about the welfare of the students. I am really excited that my daughter comes home speaking words from a new language (we speak english at home). She is able to tell me a new word everyday. I do not know the principal... and I cant understand why. I've asked who the principal is, and I just have never seen her. Non-the-less, the school seems well organized. Special events are handled well. I get letters every week updating me on what is happening at the school, and how I can participate Overall, I am really satisfied. The one drawback is that the academic challenge seems week. I think there is much more of a focus on languages and the immersion concept. Meeting / stimulating individual needs seems to be on the back burner.

This school is a mixed bag. Some teachers are superb, others not so much. Admin generally does a poor job engaging parents and it can take forever to get an issue resolved, assuming it does get resolved. The property is great, but the classrooms are tiny, which can cause issues among kids. The language immersion program is a key reason why we came, but that's mixed, too, although it does seem to be improving. (Kids who do not speak a second language at home rarely leave bilingual.) Still, it is a warm and welcoming place, and there is an open door policy for parents, which is great. On-site chef is great, which means school lunches are excellent. Great playground, allows for fantastic parent community to develop. I'd recommend this school for kids who can handle close quarters and who are interested in learning the rudiments of a second language.

Great school, one drawback....the academics are weak. The environment. Is absolutely wonderful. You can tell everyone pretty much enjoys working and loves children. The school lacks a gifted curriculum as well as attention to providing for rigorous instruction for these special learners. Teachers are skilled with scaffolding but not extending. Such a shame, it is truly a jewel.

My family loves this school! The teachers and administration are awesome! It's very family-oriented and everyone goes out of their way to make sure each child succeeds. We have a personal chef who cooks breakfast and lunch, using ingredients from our very own garden. Our scholars learn French and Spanish, take art and/or music 2 times a week and gym everyday! We have an active parent committee, which I'm a part of, that you can join to help make the school even better. You couldn't ask for more!

E. W. Stokes provides my daughters with not only exposure to things they would not otherwise be privy to, but also the tool with which to extract the most from that exposure. At Stokes, it's more about the 'how' and 'why' than the 'who' and 'what.' The who and what of life belongs to the parents... the reasoning belongs to Stokes.

At Stokes the environment is family. They definately care for the children and the community. In turn it reinforces a since of pride in the children to care for themselves and others. The encourging environment allows the learning to be stressfree for them and fosters an open mind as they learn throughout the day. I see in my son a wonderful sense of confidence in the challenges he has throughout each day. And he excells so elegently.

it's a language-immersion Pre-K to 6th-grade school where the children study ALL subjects in both English and either Spanish or French. Seeing my 4-year-old learn to not only speak but begin to think and respond in Spanish has been amazing to me. The teachers at the school are just phenomenal - there's 2 teachers in each classroom, one who focused on English and the other on the target language, and they are some of the most loving, caring, and dedicated folks I've ever seen. As an educator, myself, I have become quite familiar with best practices within a variety of educational settings as it relates to how our children learn most effectively. I can honestly say that EWS has done an outstanding job with combining the latest trends in best practices with providing a nurturing environment for our children to continue to develop, be challenged and reach their highest potential. Their community involvement is phenomenal no matter how you you look at; however, their efforts do not always receive the attention it deserves. Its everyday environment is rich in culturally and academically enhancing opportunities that all the children and their families benefit from. My daughter has a huges smile on her face everyday I pick her up from school, which is accompanied by a new adventure that really made her day. It has been truly a delight and privilege to be apart of the EWS family.

I LOVE EW Stokes Community Freedom PCS because they are student oriented. The teachers and staff are there because they care about laying the foundation to establishing young people that will care about there community and aspire to contribute to a healthy society. The impact they have on the children that attend will be felt for generations. My son loves school. He is excelling by leaps and bounds. He has the freedom to be himself. They have the patience to allow him to be himself. There process is smooth. Even when they coach the students it only endears them. There educational plan is fantastic. Not only are they learning a foreign language they are also learning culture, acceptance of differences, to look beyond themselves, to realize that there is a lot more to this world than what they see in their neighborhoods. With the compassion they show it encourages my child to have confidence in himself. He is not afraid to step out of his normal and tackle new obsticles. Stokes is not just a school, they are a village. I really appreciate that. It still takes a village to raise a child.
