This school is on the top of a small hill in a cul-de-sac. After the first month of attending my Kindergartner said on his walk up the hill. 'Daddy, I love this school but I hate this hill' That pretty much sums it up.
Stokes is a great school to attend! I am a parent of a 2nd grader and soon a Pr-k scholar. I have been bless for my kids to attend a very educated school. I will recomande it to anyone who will like to attend an international bilingual school. They have French and Spanish as a second langue, also many actives during all school year with scholars and parents.
I love Stokes! My daughter feel right at home here, there are more children and parents that match our 'holistic, earthy' approach. It's a breath of fresh air!
E. W. Stokes provides my daughters with not only exposure to things they would not otherwise be privy to, but also the tool with which to extract the most from that exposure. At Stokes, it's more about the 'how' and 'why' than the 'who' and 'what.' The who and what of life belongs to the parents... the reasoning belongs to Stokes.
Stokes is an amazing environment which fosters the creative energy within my children, while gently stretching their academic capacities.
At Stokes the environment is family. They definately care for the children and the community. In turn it reinforces a since of pride in the children to care for themselves and others. The encourging environment allows the learning to be stressfree for them and fosters an open mind as they learn throughout the day. I see in my son a wonderful sense of confidence in the challenges he has throughout each day. And he excells so elegently.
I love everything about ews specially the staff that is so caring towards students & parents.
Elsie Whitlow Stokes is great from head to toe! The sense of community, excellent language curriculum, dedicated teachers and staff (everyone from the principal to the crossing guard is amazing), enthusiastic kids, and lovely intimate setting, combine to make Stokes THE best primary school in DC. We wouldn't go anywhere else, public or private.
EW Stokes is a warm and welcoming environment. The French emmersion program is a great program, my daughter is able to carry a conversation without hesitation and she is only in kinder! The teachers and administration are amazing people always make me feel apart of the Stoke family and community. We love Stokes!
Elsie Whitlow Stokes is a fantastic school. It is a safe and nurturing environment where the teachers and staff engage the children. The parents are also very supportive. It also has a great language program. My daughter spends 1/2 her day in French every day. She will do that all the way to 6th grade! I'm so happy to be part of EWStokes!
This is our first year and we have been very pleased with EW Stokes. My kids came in at 4 and 6 grade and have been warmly welcomed into their classes. The teachers have been gracious in helping them to learn Spanish. This school is a true community of learning.
I love this school because everyone who works there really thinks the kids are so special. You can feel what a positive place it is when you walk thru the door.
My god-daughter attends this school. The school has provided her so much exposure to the arts and education of different cultures. Elsie Whitlow Stokes has also given this little girl the opportunity to become an outstanding academic student.
Stokes is a happy place; my children are excited to go to school evey day!
I love the school, because has great staff, they love the students and give the best job. My kids learn a lot every day and I am happy because I see the progress.
I love elsie whitlow stokes because the teachers and staff are so dedicated to the development of the whole child. I believe there is no perfect school, just the right school for your child!
The school is very community oriented and they really care about the individual child as well as the school on a whole.
The fabulous teachers and staff! Dedicated families! The bilingual program that produces great results.
Stokes is an awesome school and community. Bilingual french or spanish program for all students, a cirriculum that emphasizes art, music, PE as well as academic excellence, and a nurturing environment that stresses peace and community responsibility.
